The Body Shop Manager has overall control over customer satisfaction and the profitability
of the body shop.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supervise the body shop staff including estimators, painters, and body technicians.
2. Work with insurance adjusters, creating relationships that get the claims paid quickly and according to estimates.
3. Meet with any dissatisfied customers and factory personnel.
4. Maintain high body shop technician and painter productivity with training programs.
5. Coordinate with the parts manager inventory any items on order and any items that need to be returned for credit.
6. Control expenses such as paint and body shop supplies and policy adjustments.
7. Increase sales and gross profit by generating new business with insurance company mailings and advertising.
8. Control repair order flow and supervise open repair reports and work in process.
9. Maintain conformity with government regulations such as OSHA safety, and hazardous waste disposal.
10. Control the shop tool inventory, paint materials inventory, and shop manuals, purchasing the most current items at the least amount of expense.
11. Monitor the maintenance of paint booths, frame straightening equipment, and other large, fixed assets to ensure long term usage and value.
12. Control body shop accounts receivables.
Skills Required and Physical Demands:
1. Excellent verbal, math, and leadership skills. These skills may be tested and evaluated.
2. Previous body shop foreman or related management experience.
3. Ability to communicate with customers, department employees, and other managers with verbal meetings and written reports.
