Multimedia Specialist
Position Summary
The Multimedia Specialist develops engaging, accessible, and professional multimedia content to support GLITEC public health programs, communications, education, and outreach. Working closely with the Communication Lead, Graphic Designer, Communications Specialist, program staff, and project leads, this position creates and adapts content across digital and print platforms while following organizational brand guidelines. The Multimedia Specialist supports videography, video editing, photography, motion graphics, graphic design, web design and content, and other digital media. The position participates in strategy sessions, project planning meetings, and brainstorming teams to translate public health information into clear and engaging visual products. The preferred location for this job is in Madison, Wisconsin. However, for qualified candidates, this job may be in Green Bay, Wisconsin or Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Collaborate closely with the Communication Lead, Graphic Designer, Communications Specialist, program staff, and project leads to plan and produce multimedia materials that support public health programs, education, outreach, and communication priorities.
· Plan, capture, edit, and produce video content for educational, promotional, training, conference, interview, and public health communication purposes.
· Support photography and image editing for program materials, events, websites, social media, and other communications.
· Create motion graphics, animations, and other multimedia elements when appropriate to improve communication and audience engagement.
· Develop and maintain web-based content and assist with webpage design, layout, graphics, usability, and updates in coordination with appropriate staff.
· Design and produce digital and print materials, including graphics, infographics, social media content, presentations, reports, fact sheets, educational materials, and other visual products.
· Participate in strategy sessions, project input meetings, brainstorming teams, and other collaborative planning activities.
· Assist with storyboarding, scripting, production planning, recording, post-production, captioning, and preparation of multimedia products for publication.
· Work with subject matter experts to translate technical public health information into accurate, understandable, culturally appropriate, and visually engaging products.
· Conduct quality control and proofing to ensure accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and adherence to organizational brand guidelines and established creative processes.
· Adapt content for multiple platforms and formats while maintaining consistent branding, visual identity, accessibility, and quality.
· Organize and maintain multimedia files, project assets, templates, photographs, video footage, and other digital resources.
· Balance multiple projects and internal clients while maintaining quality, deadlines, priorities, and applicable budgets.
· Attend relevant trainings, technical conferences, and seminars to remain current on multimedia, video, design, web, accessibility, and communications practices and technologies.
· Perform other duties as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Working Relationships and Scope:
Reports directly to the GLITEC Communications Lead and works collaboratively with the Graphic Designer, Communications Specialist, program staff, and other GLITEC team members. The Multimedia Specialist works independently within assigned responsibilities while coordinating closely with colleagues on planning, production, review, and delivery of multimedia products. Regular contact with GLITEC staff and other organizational employees is required to gather information, coordinate projects, and develop materials that meet program and organizational needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience may be considered. Associate degree or higher in multimedia design, digital media, videography, visual communications, graphic design, web design, communications, or a related field is preferred. Demonstrated experience developing multimedia content is required. Experience with videography/video production and editing, graphic design, and web design or web content development is strongly preferred. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications or comparable professional creative software is preferred, particularly applications used for photo editing, video editing, motion graphics, and graphic design. Experience with content management systems and designing or maintaining web content is preferred. A strong portfolio demonstrating multimedia work is preferred. Knowledge of visual communication, layout, typography, branding, digital media, accessibility, and content development for multiple platforms is desired. Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and communication approaches are required.
This is a full-time non-exempt position based on skills and experience, with a pay range of $55,000 - $65,000 annually, depending on years of experience, relevant experience, education and populations you have worked with. The preferred location for this job is in Madison, Wisconsin. However, for qualified candidates, this job may be in Green Bay, Wisconsin or Grand Rapids, Michigan. This position is not a remote position.
