Summary:
As the Intern - Electrical Engineer (Qualification Test), you support North Atlantic Industries’ Qualification Test Engineering function by assisting with environmental and electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing of high-reliability electronic products. You gain hands-on engineering experience while working under the guidance of a Qualification Test Engineer to support product qualification and reliability.
- Assist with environmental, EMI, and other qualification testing in accordance with applicable military and commercial standards.
- Support the setup, operation, and monitoring of test equipment and test configurations under engineering guidance.
- Collect, organize, and document test data to support engineering analysis, procedures, and reports.
- Assist with the setup and fabrication of cable harnesses, test fixtures, and other test support equipment.
- Support troubleshooting and diagnostic testing of electronic assemblies and failed items in collaboration with engineering personnel.
- Interpret basic engineering documentation, including schematics, assembly drawings, specifications, and component data sheets, to support qualification test activities.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Basic knowledge of electrical circuits, electronics, and test and measurement principles gained through coursework, laboratory experience, or engineering projects.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical documentation, including schematics, specifications, and engineering drawings.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with general-purpose electronic test equipment and laboratory test methods.
- Exposure to military or commercial test standards, such as MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, or RTCA/DO-160.
- Hands-on experience with wiring, electronic assemblies, test fixtures, or general-purpose hand tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with curiosity and a desire to learn.
Work Schedule and Environment
- This Fall 2026 internship requires 15–20 hours per week on site during our business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Opportunities to continue into additional semesters may be available.
