Summary of job:
As a Clinical Intake Specialist, you will be responsible for completing a comprehensive clinical assessment on potential clients seeking admission to Berks Counseling Center as part of our Open Admission process. This will include completion of supporting documentation, orienting the client to services, and setting up the electronic health record.

- Serve as an active member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- Conduct face to face clinical behavioral health assessments on individuals seeking services at Berks Counseling Center as part of BCC’s multidisciplinary admissions team.
- Determine an appropriate level of care for each client based on established guidelines.
- Assign clients to an appropriate clinician based on their needs.
- Utilize collaborative documentation to complete an intake note and comprehensive clinical assessment that meets compliance standards, medical necessity guidelines, and agency standards as to timeliness and accuracy of documentation.
To qualify for the position, you will need…
- Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, social work, or related area.
- One (1) year documented work experience in a behavioral health setting.
- Ability to get PCB Certification within one year.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week within agency hours of operation, which are 8am-8pm Mon-Thurs, 8am-4pm Friday with Saturday hours, when applicable.
Preferred candidates will have:
- Master’s degree
- Bilingual ability in English/Spanish
Physical Requirements:
- VISUAL: Must be able to read and interpret documents and read and analyze data on a computer screen for prolonged periods.
- COMMUNICATING: Must be able to communicate with clients, vendors, and coworkers.
- MOBILITY: Must have mobility to move about the agency. Must have mobility to move about the community.
- PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must be able to carry up to 10 pounds.
- OTHER: Must be able to write, type and use technology.

- Receipt of results of a satisfactory drug and alcohol screening test.
- Receipt of the originals of the following background checks: PA State Police Criminal History, PA State Child Abuse, and DPW FBI Criminal History. These clearances must be valid within the 60 months prior to employment. A conviction is not a bar to employment; however, a review will be conducted to make a determination of employment should a conviction be present.
- Receipt of original documentation and verification of relevant degrees, diplomas, certificates, or licensure.
