Position Summary

The Warehouse Associate (Receiving Emphasis) plays a critical role in the supply chain by efficiently and accurately managing all inbound shipments. This position is responsible for unloading freight, verifying incoming inventory against purchase orders, identifying discrepancies, and staging items for put-away. The ideal candidate maintains high data fidelity in our warehouse systems, safely operates material handling equipment, and fosters a secure, organized operational environment.

Core Responsibilities & Performance Metrics

• Inbound Cargo Management: Safely unload shipments from delivery trailers, containers, and carriers using pallet jacks, forklifts, and manual lifting methods.

• Shipment Verification: Thoroughly cross-reference physically received materials against packing lists, Bills of Lading (BOL), and digital Purchase Orders (PO) to guarantee order accuracy.

• Quality Assurance & Reporting: Inspect incoming pallets, cases, and individual items for structural damages, leakage, or product deterioration. Document, tag, and isolate affected stock within the designated quarantine area.

• System Data Entry: Scan barcodes and accurately input quantity, SKU, lot tracking numbers, and manufacturing dates into the Warehouse Management System (WMS) using RF hand-scanners.

• UCC-128 & Pallet Tagging: Verify or apply internal item tracking numbers and supplier shipping labels to units before moving them to storage.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Warehouse Supervisors and Inventory Management teams to resolve immediate vendor variances, shortages, or overages.

• Housekeeping & Safety Compliance: Keep loading bays, receiving docks, and processing floor zones completely free of debris, broken pallets, and plastic wrap. Adhere to all OSHA safety rules.

Requirements

 

Qualifications & Skills

• Education & Experience: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. Previous background in warehouse operations or receiving environments is preferred.• Equipment Certification: Ability to obtain or possess an active certified operator license for material handling machinery (e.g., sit-down/stand-up forklifts, electric pallet jacks, or order pickers).• Technical Proficiency: Direct familiarity with digital barcode infrastructure, hardware RF inventory scanners, and modern enterprise software systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, or standalone WMS dashboards).• Operational Capabilities: High attentiveness to fine details; strong practical math aptitude for rapid product counts and verification processes.

Physical Demands & Environmental Workspace

• Lifting & Force Requirements: Routinely and repetitively capable of lifting, lowering, moving, and carrying physical products weighing up to 50 lbs independently.• Stamina & Posture: Capability to sustain prolonged physical activities across an 8-to-10 hour shifts, including standing, walking across concrete warehouse floors, bending, reaching, and kneeling.• Environmental Resilience: Adaptable to working within multi-temperature warehouse configurations subject to seasonal shifts (exposure to natural heat, humidity, or cooler draft conditions near active loading docks).
