SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under general supervision, performs inspection, assembly, disassembly, testing, repair, and maintenance of gas lift valves, mandrels, and related equipment. Ensures equipment meets applicable specifications, quality standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Provides technical support regarding the proper handling, preparation, and operation of gas lift equipment.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Perform routine inspections and testing to ensure gas lift equipment meets applicable specifications and SOPs.
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, assemble, and repair gas lift valves and related components.
- Inspect gas lift mandrels and associated equipment for wear, damage, and serviceability.
- Set and verify gas lift valve charge pressures and operating settings according to approved procedures and job specifications.
- Safely operate high-pressure testing and charging equipment, ensuring pressure is relieved before handling or disassembling components.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and identify components requiring repair or replacement.
- Document inspection findings, test results, repairs, and equipment identification to maintain accurate service records and traceability.
- Assist with loading, unloading, handling, and storage of gas lift equipment.
- Maintain work areas, tools, fixtures, and testing equipment to prevent hazards to personnel and damage to components.
- Follow approved procedures for handling compressed gases, pressure equipment, and cleaning materials.
- Train and coach new hires in basic gas lift equipment principles and shop procedures.
EHS REQUIREMENTS:
- Complete all work safely and follow all safety requirements consistent with supporting the company’s Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) goals.
- Follow all environmental requirements consistent with supporting the company’s environmental performance goals.
- Complete and actively participate in all company EHS training requirements.
- Use required personal protective equipment and follow applicable energy isolation, pressure control, and material handling procedures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in an ELS shop location during normal or extended business hours. The work environment may include exposure to noise, moving equipment, pressurized systems, cleaning materials, and varying temperatures. Work may occasionally include customer facilities, oil well sites, and meeting venues, as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- A clean driving record is required for vehicle operators.
- Three to four years of artificial lift experience, preferably with gas lift equipment, is preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, memos, and applicable equipment specifications.
- Ability to write simple correspondence and maintain accurate inspection and testing records.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Basic hand tool proficiency.
- Ability to use gauges, measuring instruments, and pressure testing equipment.
- Basic computer skills to operate computerized test equipment and enter service records.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- A combination of relevant education, training, and experience will also be considered.

- Must be able to safely bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working.
- Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate hand tools, mechanical tools, and testing equipment.
