The ideal candidate has experience completing basic setups for CNC turning and/or milling centers and a desire to grow their career in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.


Job Summary

Responsible for the setup and operation of multiple Wenthe-Davidson’s CNC turning and/or milling centers. Performs machine changeovers and runs production parts safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established production standards and customer quality requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effectively operate CNC lathes and/or mills in cells to produce parts in a timely fashion. 
  • Complete setups based on setup sheets and work routings. This includes using collets, tool holders, cutting tools, live tooling and fixtures.  
  • Monitor production parts with measuring equipment and visual inspection at required intervals while maintaining cutting tools to satisfy customers’ quality requirements.
  • Adjust offsets and lengths accordingly, as needed, to maintain part tolerances using various measurement gages.
  • Perform operations on first production run products. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable work area. 
  • Perform operator level preventative maintenance on equipment. 
  • May run more than one machine at a time based on cell design. 
Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Basic general education
  • Experience completing basic setups for CNC turning and/or milling centers.
  • Language Skills: Ability to communicate with all levels, provide oral and written instructions/directions and understand oral and written instructions in English.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic shop math and measurements.  
  • Ability to use calipers, bore gages, and other gages for inspection.
  • Ability to follow company designated processes using setup sheets and work routings.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills to determine possible solutions for problems which could occur during a machine setup or production run.

Physical Demands

  • The ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds for up to eight (8) hours per day.
  • The ability to bend and lift up to forty (40) pounds between floor level and a height of five feet six inches.
  • The ability to stand and walk on concrete for up to eight (8) hours per day.
  • Manual Dexterity: The ability to use hands to manipulate objects (i.e. replace tooling, etc.).
  • Quality Assurance: The ability to perform visual inspection of work material to ensure quality standards.
