Who We Are
East Daley Analytics is a leading provider of North American energy infrastructure and commodity market insights. Our Equity Research team connects proprietary energy fundamentals with company-level financial outcomes to help institutional investors make informed investment decisions.
Our mission is to move the market. We deliver insights that shape real decisions for influential leaders in energy and finance - with speed, rigor, and conviction. We value transparency, innovation, high standards, and a play-to-win mindset, while enjoying winning together.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an ambitious, intellectually curious analyst who wants to develop the investment insight, not just build the model behind it. You will own defined analytical projects, challenge market assumptions, and turn complex energy fundamentals into differentiated views on company performance and valuation.
This is an ownership-driven research role with early investor exposure. You will develop independent, evidence-based conclusions, subject to senior review before external distribution, and begin joining client conversations within your first 30-60 days alongside senior analysts. We value initiative, independent thinking, analytical discipline, and the confidence to explain why a market call matters.
What You Will Own and Drive
· Financial modeling and data analytics (~50%): Own defined financial and fundamental models that link commodity prices, production, volumes, spreads, tariffs, and infrastructure utilization to company revenue, EBITDA, and valuation.
· Build scenario and sensitivity analyses to identify the most consequential financial drivers, risks, and investment catalysts.
· Use advanced Excel, Python, SQL, and other analytical tools to improve workflows, automate recurring processes, and discover insights in complex data.
· Maintain high standards for data quality and model accuracy while continually improving methodologies, tools, and research efficiency.
· Research and market calls (~35%): Identify emerging energy-market developments, company exposures, and areas where underlying fundamentals may differ from investor expectations.
· Form independent, evidence-based market views; test competing hypotheses, challenge assumptions, and explain the implications for company performance and investment decisions.
· Take initiative in proposing research questions and communicating timely conclusions; present and defend your reasoning internally, with senior review before external release.
· Client engagement (~15%): Participate in investor calls and research discussions within 30-60 days, initially alongside senior analysts, and gradually assume more responsibility for explaining findings.
· Create clear, client-ready charts, presentations, and written analysis that show what is changing, why it matters, and what investors should watch next.
Partner with senior researchers and teams across EDA to sharpen conclusions, respond to client questions, and deliver differentiated insights.
What Success Looks Like
Within 12 months, own defined research deliverables and analytical models, identify meaningful market shifts, and develop defensible conclusions about their financial implications. Become a credible contributor to investor discussions, able to explain assumptions and respond constructively to challenge while continuing to build technical depth.
What You Bring
· One plus years of relevant experience in financial analysis, equity research, energy markets, consulting, or quantitative analytics.
· Bachelor's degree required in finance, economics, engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, geology, or a related quantitative field.
· Demonstrated proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis using advanced Excel or Python, with working knowledge of SQL.
· Strong critical thinking and sound judgment: able to evaluate complex or incomplete information and develop well-supported conclusions.
· Initiative and ownership: comfortable proposing ideas, challenging assumptions, setting priorities, and being accountable for analytical results.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex research clearly and engage constructively with different perspectives.
· Ability to balance speed with precision, adapt to changing priorities, and collaborate with a high-performing research team.
Especially Valuable Experience
· Exposure to equity research, company valuation, financial statements, investor analysis, or institutional financial markets.
· Familiarity with North American natural gas, crude oil, NGLs, or energy infrastructure fundamentals.
· Experience building financial models, interpreting large datasets, and performing scenario or sensitivity analyses.
· Experience presenting analytical findings, defending conclusions, or communicating with investors, clients, or commercial teams.
· Ability to improve data workflows with Python, SQL, Power Query, advanced Excel, or visualization tools.
Why East Daley
You will work at the intersection of energy fundamentals and financial markets, with real ownership of research and early access to sophisticated institutional investors. Your career will grow beyond producing accurate models: you will learn to form the view, make the call, and explain the investment implications with conviction and rigor.
