Position Summary

The Inside Security Technician role serves as the primary point of contact for customers requiring service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support for electronic security systems.

As an Inside Security Technician, you will coordinate service appointments, troubleshoot system issues over the phone, manage service inventory, and support both customers and field technicians throughout the service process. You'll play a critical role in ensuring a positive customer experience while helping keep security, fire, access control, and video systems operating effectively.

This position is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, technical aptitude, and a passion for customer service and problem-solving.

Pay and Benefits

Compensation: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour based on experience

What You'll Do  

60% Low-Voltage Troubleshooting 

  • Coordinate and schedule service, maintenance, and inspection appointments for security systems
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the service process
  • Track service requests, communicate status updates, and ensure timely completion of work orders
  • Troubleshoot security system issues with customers over the phone and coordinate field support when needed
  • Assist technicians with installation, maintenance, and repair activities
  • Process service documentation, billing, and inventory management
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by resolving customer questions and concerns professionally
  • Represent Heartland Security Services in a positive and professional manner

25% Schedule Work Orders

  • Schedule and coordinate medical device installations and service work
  • Track projects, communicate updates, and support customers throughout the process
  • Program medical devices and maintain related documentation
  • Manage medical device inventory and equipment
  • Partner with technicians and internal teams to ensure successful project completion

15% Team Activities 

  • Attend department meetings, sometimes during non-work hours.  
  • Participate in HSS Training and Continuing Education program. 


Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • One or more years of installation scheduling experience preferred OR
  • One or more years of hands-on security system installation or service experience preferred
  • Experience working with security, fire alarm, access control, CCTV, or related low-voltage systems is beneficial

Licenses/Certificates

  • PLT License strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to pass background screening and pre-employment testing

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of electronic, electrical, or low-voltage systems
  • Understanding of basic electrical theory and wiring practices
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and solve problems effectively
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency with common business software
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive customer information
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards, codes, and regulations
  • Commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices
Salary Description
$28.00 - $34.00 per hour
