AMHC is seeking a Recovery Coach to provide encouragement, support, advocacy, and connection to individuals working toward recovery from substance use disorders. This unique role combines peer support, community outreach, mentoring, and resource navigation to help individuals build healthier, more independent lives.


What You'll Do

  • Build meaningful, trusting relationships with individuals in recovery.
  • Share hope, encouragement, and recovery-focused support.
  • Help individuals identify goals and develop recovery wellness plans.
  • Connect people with treatment, housing, employment, healthcare, and other community resources.
  • Assist individuals in overcoming barriers to accessing services.
  • Facilitate skill development, problem-solving, and self-care strategies.
  • Serve as an advocate, mentor, and positive role model within the recovery community.
  • Participate in community outreach and recovery-focused education efforts.

What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one year in recovery and willingness to self-identify as a person in recovery OR lived experience supporting a family member or friend with a substance use disorder.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Passion for helping others achieve their recovery goals.
  • Ability to engage individuals with compassion, respect, and without judgment.

Requirements


  1. This position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or its equivalent.  
  2. The individual must be in recovery for a minimum of one year and is willing to self-identify as a person in recovery; OR, have lived experience such as living with a family member or friend with a substance use disorder.  
  3. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.  
  4. Be trained in the Recovery Coach Academy CCAR Model (Connecticut Community of Addiction Recovery), as well as CCAR Ethics training. Once training is completed, a recovery coach will be required to register with the State of Maine as a registered recovery coach.

$35,692 - $42,831 annually
