Description
Summary
The Facilities Assistant reports directly to the Facilities Manager and supports the day-to-day operations
of the facility. This role works closely with various departments to perform preventative maintenance,
repairs and troubleshooting of all facility equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform skilled maintenance in the following areas: carpentry, roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC; pneumatic and digital controls.
- Assist with the installation, inspection, repair, troubleshooting and daily maintenance of buildings, infrastructures, and facility equipment.
- Monitor facility systems for potential problems (or existing problems) and formulates solutions utilizing blueprints, schematics, or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Perform effective emergency maintenance as required, on call and after hours may be required.
- Carries out preventive maintenance to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed rated life.
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
- Assist the facilities team/manager with any needed tasks.
Requirements
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Basic knowledge in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of building automation systems and HVAC equipment including troubleshooting.
- Basic knowledge of Fire Life Safety equipment.
Requirements
- Minimum of high school diploma or general equivalency degree required.
- 3-4 years of related field experience within a production facility, building operations and maintenance in a commercial setting preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and maintenance skills.
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be comfortable working at heights, including on rooftops and elevated work areas.
Salary Description
$25 / hour
