Bergen’s Promise is the designated Care Management Organization (CMO) for Bergen County and a proud partner in the New Jersey Children’s System of Care (CSOC). We are a mission-driven, nonprofit social service organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). We partner with youth up to age 21 and their families who may be navigating behavioral, emotional, mental health, substance use, and/or developmental challenges. Our work is grounded in the Wraparound Model of Care, a family-centered and strengths-based approach that brings together each youth’s Child and Family Team to build upon the unique strengths, values, needs, and resources of the youth, family, and community. Position Overview
Bergen’s Promise is seeking an on-site Temp to Perm Part-Time Project Manager/Software Developer. This is a hybrid role that plans and coordinates technology and program-related projects and personally builds or maintains the software/tools those projects need. Someone who can write a project charter in the morning and debug a script in the afternoon. This position will typically work 15–25 hours/week, with a flexible schedule. This position will report to the IT Director.
Project Management
- Coordinate across departments/stakeholders, run status meetings, and maintain project trackers
- Define project scope, timelines, milestones, and deliverables for technology and process-improvement initiatives
- Identify risks and resolve blockers before they affect deadlines
- Document processes and maintain project records for audits/grant reporting
Software Development
- Design, build, test, and deploy internal tools, scripts, or web applications (specify language/stack — e.g., Power Automate, PowerShell, SQL, Python, Java, JavaScript, web frameworks)
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing systems and integrations
- Write clean, documented code, and maintain version control
- Support data migrations, automations, and reporting tools
- Provide light technical support/training to staff using tools they build
Performance Measured Outcomes
- On-time delivery rate: % of milestones/projects completed by deadline
- Budget adherence: projects delivered within allocated hours/budget
- Code quality & uptime: bug rate, system reliability, resolution time for issues
- Stakeholder satisfaction: feedback from staff/leadership on communication and usability of tools delivered
- Documentation completeness: process docs, code comments, handoff materials kept current
- Number/impact of process improvements: automations or efficiencies introduced (e.g., hours saved)
Bachelor’s degree in software engineering/computer science
- 1 – 2 years of Project Management experience
- 1 – 2 years of software development experience
- 1 – 2 years of Power Platform experience
- Strong organizational and project management skills

Work Environment General Office. Flexible schedule: Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
