Impact Summary:

MTech is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Assembly/Fabrication Technician to perform repairs, fabrication, modification, assembly, installation, integration, and troubleshooting of mechanical components and subassemblies. This position supports the fabrication and assembly of aerospace prototypes and production products manufactured by MTech and external vendors.


The Assembly/Fabrication Technician will work from engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, prescribed procedures, work instructions, and verbal direction to accurately kit, fabricate, assemble, modify, install, and inspect aerospace hardware and mechanical assemblies. The position requires the ability to use general aerospace shop tooling and fabrication equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, workmanship, and schedule.


The successful candidate will demonstrate a professional manner, positive attitude, strong work ethic, and cooperative approach when working with coworkers, supervisors, engineers, inspectors, and other personnel. This individual must be dependable, adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Read, interpret, and follow basic engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, work instructions, procedures, and other written or verbal instructions to accurately assemble and fabricate products.
  • Perform mechanical assembly, fabrication, modification, installation, repair, integration, and troubleshooting of components and subassemblies.
  • Perform advanced technician-level fabrication, integration, custom assembly, modification, and troubleshooting activities on various aircraft and aerospace products.
  • Fabricate and modify components using general aerospace shop tooling and manufacturing equipment.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including manual mills, drill presses, metal-cutting equipment, and other general shop machinery and hand tools.
  • Select and properly use appropriate tools, fixtures, measuring equipment, and materials for assigned tasks.
  • Perform in-process and final quality checks using precision measuring tools, including various types of calipers, scales, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies, placing request for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Identify, document, and immediately report defects, nonconformances, damaged components, or other quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor or quality personnel.
  • Assist with the identification and resolution of assembly, fabrication, fit, and installation issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records associated with work performed, as required.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, quality personnel, and other team members regarding job status, issues, requirements, and priorities.
  • Follow all applicable company, customer, aerospace, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Meet established production schedules and quality requirements while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support operational requirements and on-time delivery.

  • Measurement & Inspection: Effectively uses calipers, scales, gauges, and other measuring equipment to verify dimensions and workmanship.

Requirements


Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related aerospace, manufacturing, mechanical assembly, fabrication, or technician role.
  • Demonstrated experience working with aerospace hardware, mechanical fabrication, assembly, modification, and installation.
  • Experience using common precision measuring tools, including calipers, scales, gauges, and similar inspection equipment.
  • Experience operating general fabrication and machine-shop equipment such as manual mills, drill presses, metal-cutting equipment, and hand tools.
  • Experience with aircraft modification, integration, installation, or troubleshooting preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining consistent quality and productivity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong dependability, attendance, and accountability.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen due to DoD contract requirements.
  • Clean record with the ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Travel

  • Occasional travel may be required.

Salary Information: 

The estimated salary range for this position will be $23-$30, based on the successful candidates experience, qualifications, skill set, and market conditions.
