Across the Way (ATW) is located across the street from our Mt. Airy store, and the ATW manager oversees both the Wellness and Pet departments within the store.

We are looking for an energetic, community-oriented, and experienced individual to work as the manager at our Across the Way (Mt. Airy) location. This position is a full-time exempt role with an anticipated 40-45 hours per week. Flexible availability is needed, including nights and weekends. If you have retail management experience and a strong knowledge of health, wellness, beauty, and pet products, then we want to hear from you!


Please note that this position is in a pet store, and members may bring their pets into the store.


Responsibilities: 

  • The ATW manager will hire, train, schedule, and manage Across the Way staff in alignment with HR guidelines; collaborate with HR as needed. 
  • A key role in the position is focusing on staff development through regular feedback and coaching and the development of staff training protocols 
  • The ATW manager will hold regular staff meetings and ensure proper communication of store Policies and procedures 
  • The manager is responsible for making sure payroll-related tasks are completed accurately and on time. 
  • Fill in for staffing gaps and communicate any scheduling changes to the Store Manager, when applicable. 
  • Oversee all ATW operations, including SOP development, task delegation and execution, and scheduling. 
  • Educate customers on product philosophy and benefits through accurate signage, direct interaction, and other applicable mediums.  
  • Ensure all store facets are maintained, cleaned, organized, and report maintenance issues to Facilities when needed
  • The ATW Manager works with the Mount Airy Store Manager to review and manage departmental budgets for labor, purchasing, and operational expenses. 
  • The manager will ensure that all Cash management and register procedures are followed and upheld. 
  • The ATW manager analyzes financial reports and item movement to drive sales and profitability 
  • This position works closely with the Finance department and will ensure that all invoices, receipts, and other expense-related documents are submitted correctly and on time 
  • The position will perform all other related duties, as assigned by the Store Manager. 


Requirements
  •  Commitment to the mission and goals of Weavers Way Co-op. 
  • At least 3 years of people management experience, including hiring and staff development. 
  • Strong knowledge of health, wellness, beauty, and pet products and trends. 
  • Familiarity with a cooperative business model is strongly preferred. 
  • Proficient in POS systems and Microsoft 365 products. 
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills. 
  • Strong business acumen and attention to detail. 
  • The ability to multi-task and exercise good judgement. 
  • The ability to work both independently and within a team setting. 
  • A working knowledge of basic accounting procedures and financial reporting is preferred. 
  • The ability to remain standing for up to 8 hours. 
  • The ability to lift, carry, pull, and rotate items weighing up to 50 lbs. 
  • Be or become, upon hiring, a member in good standing of Weavers Way Co-op.
