We are currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant who will, under minimal supervision, apply the principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepares financial reports by compiling information, preparing account reconciliations, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures. This is a regular, full-time exempt position.
The anticipated salary range for this position is: $80,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts for multiple entities.
· Manages multi-entity general ledger activity including account analysis, account reconciliation and journal entry preparation for cash, prepaids, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accruals, debt and payroll.
· Manages vineyard costing including capitalization of annual farming and development costs.
· Reconciles intercompany transactions between the multiple business entities and related party wineries.
· Tracks vineyard blocks that are in development, mothballed, etc. to ensure proper accounting treatment.
· Processes month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing procedures including creation of financial statements and department reports.
· Provides monthly budget to actual reports to internal business partners and works with department managers to determine significant or unusual variances to budget.
· Prepares monthly dashboard of vineyard activity and key performance indicators to present to executive team.
· Provides quarterly year-over-year balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow analysis for Board committee.
· Assists the Controller in the preparation of the annual budget and budget analysis. Includes individual department budgets, consolidated income statement and cash flow projections.
· Prepares year-end audit schedules and facilitates external auditor questions.
· Prepares semi-monthly, monthly and quarterly required reporting and excise tax payments to the TTB and CDTFA.
· Submits monthly distributor and manufacturing CRV reporting and payments to Cal Recycle.
· Key contact for processing of grape grower contracts, harvest invoices and payments, along with applicable grape assessment fees.
· Interacts with all departments regarding financial management needs.
· Recommends process improvements and assists with IT projects.
· Special projects, ad hoc analysis, and other responsibilities as assigned.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and 5+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
· Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections with explanations of business activity.
· Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups and large data sets) and proficient use of Word and Microsoft Business Central or similar accounting software.
· Experience with Vintrace or similar type winery production and inventory software preferred.
· Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and maintain high standards of accuracy with strong attention to detail while working on multiple tasks and within established time constraints.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well cross functionally with other departments.
