Security Officer
Description

 

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and professional environment for clients, employees, visitors, and the general public. 

This position provides a visible security presence while monitoring assigned areas, conducting patrols, responding to incidents, assisting members of the public, and communicating effectively with client personnel, law enforcement, and security leadership. 

The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and composed in dynamic or high-pressure situations. 

Core Duties include 

Security & Patrol 

  1. Maintain a visible security presence throughout the assigned location. 
  2. Conduct scheduled and unscheduled foot patrols of designated areas. 
  3. Monitor facilities, entrances, exits, public areas, and other assigned locations. 
  4. Identify and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, unauthorized access, and potential security threats. 
  5. Follow all post orders, client requirements, company policies, and established security procedures. 

Incident Response 

  1. Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents, disturbances, suspicious activity, emergencies, and calls for service. 
  2. Assess situations and take appropriate action within the scope of authority. 
  3. Request additional assistance when necessary. 
  4. Maintain composure and exercise sound judgment during stressful or rapidly changing situations. 
  5. Coordinate with law enforcement, emergency responders, client representatives, and other security personnel as appropriate. 
  6. Prioritize the safety of clients, employees, visitors, and the general public. 

Customer Service & Public Interaction 

  1. Provide professional assistance and directions to visitors, passengers, employees, and members of the public. 
  2. Maintain a courteous, approachable, and professional demeanor. 
  3. De-escalate conflicts and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. 
  4. Enforce site policies and security procedures professionally and consistently. 

Reporting & Documentation 

  1. Prepare clear, accurate, and timely daily activity and incident reports. 
  2. Document incidents, observations, patrol activity, safety concerns, and other required information. 
  3. Maintain accurate logs and records in accordance with company and client requirements. 
  4. Communicate significant incidents and operational concerns to supervisors in a timely manner. 

Team & Client Collaboration 

  1. Work closely with supervisors, security personnel, client representatives, and other stakeholders. 
  2. Maintain effective communication during shift changes and personnel transitions. 
  3. Follow direction from Operations leadership and designated client contacts. 
  4. Support site-specific security and operational requirements. 

Performs additional functions, duties and specific tasks of a similar nature and scope as necessary in order to achieve assigned business objectives. 

Requirements

 

  • Must be authorized to work in the US 
  • Valid BSIS Guard Card 
  • Experience in high-touch customer service, security supervision, law enforcement, or a related field. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Proven experience in building and cultivating strong relationships. 
  • Knowledge of security protocols, risk management, and compliance requirements. 
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions under pressure. 
  • Proficiency in using security management software and tools. 
  • Stand and/or Walk up to 8 hours a day 
  • No visible tattoos 

Skills & Competencies  

As demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing 

  • CPR & First Aid Certification  
  • Strong understanding of commercial security solutions, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, fire/life safety systems, and integrated security technologies. 
  • Strong skill in oral and written communications, including effective daily and incident reporting.   
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and visitors.  
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.  
  • Ability to be an effective team member and handle project assignments responsibly.  
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization.  
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions depending on the assigned post 
  • Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout the assigned shift

  • Frequent lifting and/or moving of presentation materials up to 20 pounds.
