JOB SUMMARY
The Truck Driver is responsible for safely transporting nut products, materials, and equipment between Grower Direct Nut facilities and outside locations, including suppliers, vendors, processors, warehouses, farms, and disposal sites within approximately a 100-mile radius. The position supports the Receiving Department by ensuring products and materials are transported safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures, food safety standards, and applicable regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follow all established safety, health, quality, GMP, food safety, and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and equipment. Report any damage, defects, or maintenance concerns to the immediate Supervisor and Maintenance Department.
- Safely transport nut products, materials, supplies, and equipment between Grower Direct Nut facilities, including Geer Road and Service Road locations.
- Transport products and materials to and from suppliers, vendors, processors, warehouses, farms, disposal sites, and other designated locations as instructed.
- Safely load and unload trucks and ensure products are properly secured and handled during transportation.
- Complete all required transportation documents, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, inspection forms, and other required paperwork.
- Verify product, quantities, and documentation prior to loading and delivery and report any discrepancies to the appropriate Supervisor.
- Follow established Receiving and Shipping procedures related to the movement of product, supplies, and equipment.
- Maintain proper documentation and records related to incoming and outgoing loads.
- Assist with loading and unloading containers, trailers, and other shipments as needed, including manual handling when required.
- Follow established loading requirements based on product type, order specifications, and customer needs.
- Transport and handle products in a manner that prevents damage, contamination, or loss of product quality.
- Support the storage and inventory plan by safely transporting product and materials to designated storage locations.
- Assist with the movement and transportation of materials related to fumigation, storage, and processing operations as directed.
- Maintain a clean and organized truck, trailer, and work area and report any sanitation or food safety concerns.
- Assist other departments, RMF, and Cal-Cat when needed.
- Communicate with Receiving, Shipping, Production, and other departments to coordinate the safe and timely movement of product and materials.
- Follow all applicable Grower Direct Nut Co., local, state, and federal regulations and requirements related to commercial vehicle operation, transportation, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Will occasionally stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell.
- Will frequently sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.
- Must use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously.
- Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently.
- Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Must lift with arms up to floor to waist, waist to shoulder 50 pounds.
- Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 12 hrs.
- Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (15 flexion/minute).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- May work near moving mechanical parts, lifts and moving vehicles.
- May work around wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and/or risk of vibration and noisy conditions where hearing protection may be required.
- May work around fumigation chambers and fumigants.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
1. Ability to work as part of a team.
2. Must have a valid Commercial Class A CDL.
3. Clean DMV driving record.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Ability to perform basic math functions.
6. Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
7. At least 2 years of Truck driving experience.
8. Ability to work with little to no supervision.
