CMC:Berkshires · Clinical Department
New Marlborough, MA | Full-Time | On-Site with Flex Day Available | Reports to Clinical Director

15-bed program | 200-acre campus | 4 onsite days + 1 flex day | CMC founded in 2003

Why Join CMC:Berkshires?

The Center for Motivation and Change (CMC) was built on a simple principle: science, kindness, and genuine respect for clients produce better outcomes than confrontation or compliance. It is independently owned, not managed by a private equity group or larger corporate system, and clinically led by psychologists with over 25 years of experience developing and shaping evidence-based approaches to substance use and trauma treatment

CMC:Berkshires is our 15-bed private residential program for adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Our intentionally small size allows clinicians to do meaningful, individualized work rather than high-volume, productivity-driven care.

You'll work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team of psychologists, therapists, physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, family clinicians, Recovery Specialists, and wellness professionals.

We're also a training-oriented program. Clinicians receive ongoing supervision, consultation, and training in evidence-based approaches, with opportunities to deepen expertise in substance use, trauma and PTSD, OCD, family work, ADHD and executive functioning, and other co-occurring conditions.

The Role

Clinicians serve as either (and sometimes both) Primary Clinicians or Family Clinicians to a maximum of 3-4 clients, depending on program needs, experience, and clinical background.  Our clinical work is active, collaborative, and skills-based. Clinicians help clients understand patterns of behavior, clarify values and goals, develop and practice new skills, improve relationships, and apply new awareness and skills to everyday life.

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and substance use evaluations
  • Develop and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and the clinical team
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy
  • Provide specialty services (e.g., assessments, group orientations etc)
  • Assign and review personal values exploration, self-awareness and self-compassion practices, behavioral exercises, and skills-based homework
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning with psychiatry, medical, wellness, Recovery Specialists, and administrative staff
  • Engage family members and other significant supports in treatment to improve understanding, self-awareness, and practice skills to support change
  • Coordinate with outpatient providers, referral sources, and other collateral supports to support continuity of care
  • Participate in discharge planning and continuity-of-care coordination
  • Complete timely, high-quality clinical documentation as required by facility licensure

Our Clinical Approach

Our treatment model draws from evidence-based approaches including:

Motivational Interviewing · CBT · DBT · ACT · CRAFT / Invitation to Change® · Prolonged Exposure · EMDR · STAIR · ERP · Unified Protocol

Treatment is tailored to each client's strengths, values, learning style, co-occurring conditions, and stage of change. Clinicians are encouraged to bring their own expertise and clinical style while practicing within CMC's collaborative, evidence-based philosophy.

How Our Team Works

CMCB relies on active interdisciplinary communication and close collaboration. Clinicians participate in team meetings, supervision, case consultation, and staff meetings while onsite and coordinate regularly with co-treating clinicians.

Our flex-day structure provides scheduling flexibility while maintaining continuity of care. Because residential treatment operates 24/7, clinicians may occasionally need to respond to client matters outside scheduled hours; we work to protect clinicians' time away from work and keep these situations limited.

About CMC:Berkshires

Set on 200 acres in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, approximately 2.5 hours from both New York City and Boston, CMC:Berkshires provides clinically intensive, individualized residential treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Our maximum census of 15 clients allows clinicians to know their clients well, collaborate closely with colleagues, and adjust treatment as needs evolve. Family and support-system involvement is integrated throughout treatment whenever clinically appropriate.

If you're looking for a place where you can do meaningful clinical work, continue developing professionally, and be part of a highly collaborative treatment team, we'd like to hear from you.

Requirements

CMCB is particularly well-suited for clinicians who want to practice evidence-based treatment intensively, continue developing new clinical competencies, and work within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team operating in a system designed to support clinicians.

  • Minimum of Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field
  • Current Massachusetts clinical licensure or eligibility for licensure, as applicable to the discipline
  • Experience with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions preferred
  • Familiarity with motivational, behavioral, trauma-informed, and evidence-based treatment approaches
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Commitment to compassionate, respectful, nonjudgmental care

Early-career and experienced clinicians are encouraged to apply. Doctoral and post-doctoral candidates are also welcome.

Experience with family systems, trauma/PTSD, OCD, ADHD and executive functioning, or other specialty areas is especially valued.
