Under the general supervision of the Information Systems Senior Manager, the Information Systems Technician provides front-line technical support for Gas South District employees, clients, tenants, vendors, and events. The position installs, configures, maintains, and troubleshoots end-user technology, network connectivity, communications systems, and related IT infrastructure. The technician also supports temporary and event-specific technology deployments while providing responsive, customer-focused service in a fast-paced venue environment.

- Install, configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, printers, peripherals, and other end-user technology.
- Receive, document, troubleshoot, resolve, and appropriately escalate Help Desk incidents and service requests while maintaining clear communication with users through resolution.
- Provide Microsoft 365 user, device, and application support within assigned administrative permissions, including common productivity, collaboration, and authentication issues.
- Troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity, including switches, wireless access points, VLAN connectivity, IP addressing, patching, cabling, and associated network infrastructure.
- Assist with Cisco Meraki network equipment, monitoring, and troubleshooting as assigned.
- Install, terminate, test, label, and troubleshoot copper network cabling and patch connections, including Cat 6 and RJ45 terminations.
- Implement and support temporary wired and wireless network, phone, computer, and internet connections for meetings, conventions, arena events, clients, tenants, and vendors.
- Provide connections to building voice and data systems as required for safe, reliable, and efficient facility and event operations.
- Assist with account and access support, including password, multi-factor authentication, and approved user-access requests in accordance with established security procedures.
- Follow cybersecurity requirements and promptly escalate suspected phishing, malware, unauthorized access, compromised devices, or other security incidents.
- Maintain accurate IT asset inventory, equipment assignments, network/device records, and other technical documentation.
- Document recurring issues, resolutions, configurations, and standard operating procedures to support consistent service delivery and knowledge transfer.
- Coordinate with technology vendors, service providers, and contractors when issues require escalation, specialized support, or on-site assistance.
- Assist with technology projects, equipment upgrades, installations, infrastructure changes, testing, and implementation activities.
- Provide event-day technical support and perform assigned pre-event checks to help ensure IT systems and services are operationally ready.
- Demonstrate a customer-focused, solutions-oriented approach and take ownership of technical issues through resolution or appropriate escalation.
- Work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by event and operational schedules.
Skills and Abilities
Position requires the following skills and abilities:
- Working knowledge of installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer hardware, software, mobile devices, phones, radios, and related technology equipment.
- Working knowledge of wired and wireless networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, Wi-Fi standards, switching, and common connectivity troubleshooting methods.
- Networking background is highly desirable; Cisco Meraki experience is preferred.
- Ability to terminate and test RJ45 connections on Cat 6 cabling and perform basic structured-cabling troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications and administrative tools appropriate to the position.
- Ability to follow established cybersecurity, access-control, data-protection, and technology-use policies.
- Ability to maintain accurate technical documentation, inventory records, diagrams, and equipment information.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, network diagrams, equipment documentation, and related technical materials.
- Knowledge of operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements associated with arena, convention, meeting, and entertainment environments is preferred.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work, manage multiple requests, meet deadlines, and produce accurate results under pressure and stringent event schedules.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees, clients, guests, tenants, vendors, and technical partners in both oral and written form.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently while exercising sound judgment, initiative, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Ability to remain flexible and adapt quickly as operational, event, and technical conditions change.
- Comply with applicable laws, codes, organizational policies, safety requirements, security standards, and established operating and emergency procedures.
- Possess or obtain any licenses, certifications, or training required by local, state, or national authorities for equipment or duties assigned to the position.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move throughout the facility and work from various heights as required.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical duties at times, including lifting at least 50 pounds, carrying, moving equipment, climbing, bending, and working in confined or equipment areas.
- Ability to work in environments with moderate to loud noise levels and around active events, loading areas, technical rooms, and public spaces.
- Ability to operate portable radios, computers, hand tools, test equipment, and standard office equipment.
- Possess a valid driver's license and be legally able to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Georgia.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and two years of related information technology experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience supporting technology in a venue, hospitality, convention, entertainment, or other high-availability operational environment is preferred.
Preferred Certifications
CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Cisco, Meraki, or comparable industry certifications are preferred but not required unless specifically designated for the position.
