POSITION SUMMARY:


In partnership with the Health & Wellness Director, the Health and Wellness Lead plays a key role in the day-to-day success of the Fitness Center—ensuring a welcoming, well-run environment that drives member engagement and retention. Relationship building is at the heart of this role. You’ll serve as a visible, supportive presence on the fitness floor, greeting and assisting members, responding to health seekers’ needs, and fostering meaningful connections using the Y voice. This position blends leadership and hands-on wellness delivery, encompassing administrative responsibilities alongside personal training, group training, and fitness floor support. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Support daily wellness operations in partnership with the Health and Wellness Director.
  • Address facility needs and assist with coordinating wellness team efforts.
  • Support the design and implementation of new programs that address member needs and align with YMCA goals.
  • Take ownership of select revenue-generating wellness programs, including tracking participation, supporting growth strategies, and ensuring high-quality delivery.
  • Organize wellness events and initiatives to promote community health.
  • Committee member for Health and Wellness Association Wide team meetings.
  • Assist Health and Wellness Director with onboarding all new Wellness Coach staff. 
  • Develop Fitness Center staffing and Orientations schedules.  
  • Partner with the Health and Wellness Director as a point of contact for members interested in personal training services.
  • Provide basic information about training options and connect members with appropriate trainers.
  • Support personal training staff by identifying member needs and opportunities for growth.
  • Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. 
  • Maintain working knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective information and support to members. 
  • Conduct regular safety checks and report equipment issues, or larger repair needs, to Health and Wellness Director.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of fitness equipment per schedule or supervisor request.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA. 
  • Utilizes tools and information for the purpose of increasing member knowledge of wellness as well as wellness programs provided through the YMCA 
  • The Health and Wellness Lead must attend to the needs, and requests of health seekers, members, and all people associated with the YMCA in a courteous and friendly manner, using the Y voice.
  • Provide leadership and support to all branch staff.
  • Models and reinforces positive, inclusive environment for members to pursue healthy living at all fitness levels.
  • Assist in supporting efforts of Annual Campaign.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications; Bloodborne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention training within 60 days of hire date.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
  • Nationally recognized personal trainer certification and/or group exercise certification
