The Summit Area YMCA is seeking a skilled, dependable Maintenance Manager to oversee daily maintenance and facility needs at our Summit YMCA branch. This full-time, hands-on role reports to the Facilities Director and helps keep our building, pools, equipment, and grounds safe, clean, and ready for members and programs.
We’re looking for someone who knows building maintenance, can troubleshoot problems, and is comfortable taking initiative. As the branch’s primary maintenance contact, you’ll perform repairs, coordinate preventive maintenance, work with vendors, and serve as a daily technical resource for maintenance and housekeeping staff.

What You’ll Do:
- Conduct daily facility walkthroughs to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
- Perform preventive maintenance and general repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and pool equipment within your training and experience.
- Manage maintenance requests and work orders, keeping accurate records and communicating progress.
- Help coordinate daily work priorities with maintenance and housekeeping staff and provide hands-on support.
- Coordinate vendor services, required inspections, and corrective work with the Facilities Director.
- Work with Aquatics staff to support safe, reliable pool operations.
- Maintain supplies, tools, and equipment and recommend needed repairs or improvements.
- Assist with facility projects, program and event setups, seasonal grounds upkeep, and snow and ice removal.
- Respond to urgent maintenance needs and facility emergencies, including after-hours calls as needed.
- Work closely with branch leadership and program staff to minimize disruptions and maintain a welcoming environment.
Pay, Schedule & Work Environment
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an annual salary range of $52,000–$62,000.
A flexible schedule is required, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and additional hours to respond to urgent maintenance needs or after-hours facility emergencies. While this role is responsible for maintenance at the Summit branch, the maintenance team works together to support all Summit Area YMCA branches as needed.
The role involves indoor and outdoor work, standing and walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, with reasonable accommodations available.

- High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical or vocational training in building maintenance or a related trade preferred.
- At least three years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, or a related field required. Experience in a YMCA, fitness or recreation center, or facility with pools preferred.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance, including the ability to troubleshoot problems and identify when specialized service is needed.
- Ability to independently prioritize maintenance needs, manage multiple work orders, and follow projects through completion.
- Experience with preventive maintenance schedules, facility inspections, vendor coordination, and inventory management preferred.
- Ability to serve as a technical resource and coordinate daily work with maintenance and housekeeping staff. Previous experience as a maintenance lead preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and chemicals, including their safe and effective use.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, equipment manuals, procedures, and other maintenance documents.
- Strong communication, organizational, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and the ability to complete electronic work orders, inspection logs, and maintenance records.
- Experience obtaining estimates, purchasing supplies, and monitoring expenses within an approved budget preferred.
- Certified Pool Operator certification and appropriate Boiler Operator license preferred, or ability to obtain within 120 days of employment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and respond to after-hours facility emergencies as needed.
- Ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgment, and respond effectively to safety concerns and emergency situations.
