  • School Year: Monday–Friday (32 hrs/wk)
  • Summer: Monday – Friday | 8:45 AM – 5:45 PM (40 hrs/wk)

What You’ll Do

As a Program Leader at our Carver Elementary School-Based Club, you will play a crucial developmental role in shaping the lives of youth in our community. Rooted in strong relationships with members, school faculty, and families, this role oversees department activities and manages groups of children. You will facilitate engaging after-school activities, design age-appropriate curriculum, manage positive youth behavior, and mentor participants while collaborating with colleagues to meet program goals.

  • Program Facilitation & Lesson Planning
    • Create, organize, and lead engaging after-school programs and activities for groups of approximately 10 youth participants.
    • Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum that promote personal growth, educational achievement, and character development.
  • Supervision, Mentoring & Culture
    • Provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for all youth participants.
    • Serve as a positive role model and mentor, fostering self-esteem, goal-setting, and personal development.
    • Establish Clubhouse standards and expectations grounded in mutual respect between staff and the community served.
    • Apply positive behavior management and disciplinary skills to maintain high expectations in a high-paced environment.
  • Team Collaboration & Operations
    • Collaborate with junior-level colleagues to share best practices, ensure program targets are met, and support team cohesion.
    • Maintain operational systems, routines, and record-keeping in a fast-paced environment with continual distractions.

What You Bring

Required
  • Minimum 2 years of youth development experience working with youth ages 6–18 in a youth development setting
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, positive relationships with youth and design engaging curriculum
  • Strong positive behavior management and disciplinary skills while maintaining high expectations
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and self-starter abilities
  • Ability to create, implement, and maintain systems and procedures in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
  • Educational background or completed coursework in Early Childhood Development, Education, or related fields
  • Proven leadership or mentorship experience
  • Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a 10-passenger vehicle
  • Bilingual skills (highly encouraged)

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours consecutively.
  • Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for long periods of time.

Compensation

The estimated wage range for this role is $24.00 – $25.00 per hour. Final compensation is determined based on a range of factors, including skill set, experience, training, certifications, and organizational needs. Candidates may be hired at the entry, mid, or top level of the range depending on qualifications and position requirements.


Pre-Employment Requirements

As part of the hiring process, BGCSF requires candidates to complete LiveScan fingerprinting, a background check, and a tuberculosis (TB) evaluation or test.
