BRIEF SUMMARY:

The Field Operations Lead keeps day-to-day installation and service operations running, splitting time between the office (about 70%) and the field (about 30%). In the office, this role ensures crews follow corporately assigned schedules, coordinates materials and permits, and keeps customers and internal teams updated. When the schedule calls for it, the Field Operations Lead steps into the field as a working crew lead, installer, service technician, site surveyor, or inspection contact. The role keeps jobs on schedule and makes sure crews have what they need. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. From the branch office, oversee the installation crew, including hiring, onboarding, training, and coaching.
  2. Oversee supporting office staff and teams, including Permitting, Inspection, and Warehouse.
  3. Manage employee timekeeping and time clock records for the branch.
  4. Update the CRM daily to reflect completed jobs and current project status.
  5. Assist with managing the local vehicle fleet.
  6. Hold weekly Safety Meetings with field staff.
  7. Coordinate with Warehouse and Management on job materials.
  8. Maintain the daily and weekly schedule for installs, service calls, site surveys, and inspections.
  9. Coordinate crews, vehicles, and equipment so each job starts on time with the right people and materials.
  10. Keep job status, notes, photos, and documents current in Jobflo and related systems.
  11. Track punch-list items, inspection results, and service tickets through to close.
  12. Lead an install crew on site as a working lead when the schedule requires: direct daily tasks and perform hands-on installation alongside the crew.
  13. Fill in as an installer or electrical helper when a crew is short-staffed.
  14. Respond to service and warranty calls: troubleshoot and repair installed systems and document findings and fixes as needed).
  15. Follow and enforce site safety rules, including fall protection, PPE, ladder, and electrical safety.
  16. Record all time worked accurately, including drive time between sites, and take meal and rest breaks as scheduled.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Prepare routine operations reports (jobs completed, reschedules, open items) for leadership.
  2. Maintain safety training records, toolbox-talk logs, and vehicle and equipment inspection checklists.
  3. Help onboard and train new crew members on install practices and company procedures.
  4. Support warehouse organization and returns of unused materials. 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIANCE:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years in residential solar or electrical installation, including at least 1 year as a crew lead or lead installer.
  • Hands-on experience in scheduling, dispatch, or operations coordination.
  • Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
  • OSHA 10, or able to complete it within 60 days of hire.
  • Working knowledge of PV system components, racking, and basic electrical work.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 and scheduling or project management software (Jobflo or similar).
  • Clear, professional verbal and written communication in English with customers, crews, and inspectors.
  • Able to read site plans, single-line diagrams, and permit sets.
  • Organize, prioritize, and adjust plans quickly when the schedule changes.
  • Able to handle regular interruptions while keeping multiple jobs on track.
  • Able to work independently and effectively as a member of a team.
  • Keep a safety-first approach on every job site.
  • Maintain the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with crews, coworkers, and customers, with a positive customer service mindset.

Preferred:

  • OSHA 30 and fall protection training.
  • NABCEP PV Associate or PV Installation Professional certification.
  • State electrical trainee or certified electrician card.
  • Experience with site survey and design tools such as Scanifly.
  • Experience troubleshooting inverters, batteries, and monitoring systems.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, climb, crawl, push, pull, reach, sit, stand, climb ladders, and work with various tools and equipment. Must not fear heights or steep roofs. Comfortable working 10-12hr days. Possess the ability to listen, understand, and communicate in writing and verbally. The employee will frequently be required to lift objects up to 50 pounds.


WORK ENVIORNMENT:

Split between an indoor office setting (about 70%) and residential job sites (about 30%). Field work includes rooftops, attics, and crawl spaces; outdoor exposure to heat, cold, and sun; and work near energized electrical equipment under lockout/tagout procedures. Daily travel between the office and job sites. Schedule varies with field needs, including early starts and occasional overtime.


Salary Description
$65,000-85,000/ Year plus bonus
