Behavioral Coach
Job Type
Full-time
Description

Be the reason a kid has a better day!

We are hiring a Behavioral Coach for our school-based day treatment program. Work school hours, have your evenings and weekends free, and help kids learn the skills that change how they see themselves.

As a Behavioral Coach, you're a steady, caring adult in a student's school day. You help kids learn to manage big feelings, build friendships and succeed in the classroom. You won't do it alone: you'll work side by side with teachers, therapists and fellow coaches who have your back every day.

  • A schedule built around the school day. Daytime hours, Monday through Friday, with evenings, weekends and school breaks that work for your life. No overnights.
  • Work that matters. You'll see the progress up close helping kids everyday.
  • A true team. Coaches, teachers, therapists and families work together on every student's plan. You'll debrief together, problem-solve together and celebrate wins together.
  • Training and growth. We train you in non-violent crisis intervention and mental health principles. It's a strong start for a career in education, psychology, social work or counseling.
  • Never a boring day. You'll run, play, teach and get outside with kids, including field trips during summer programming.
Requirements
  •  Support students in classroom activities, therapeutic assignments and educational programming
  • Model and teach classroom skills, manners, social skills and safe ways to express feelings
  • Redirect behavior with patience and therapeutic communication, and keep the classroom safe using non-violent crisis intervention techniques
  • Follow each student's individualized treatment and intervention plan
  • Observe and document student behavior, then share updates with the whole team
  • Partner with therapists, teachers, parents and outside providers on each student's progress, and help schedule appointments with guardians
  • Join classroom meetings and team debriefs
  • Help lead summer programming, including field trips, and drive the van for pick-up and drop-off as needed
  • Give school-time medications to students after completing Medication Aide training
  • Complete charting and documentation in our electronic medical record on time

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED (college coursework is a plus, not a requirement)
  • At least 2 years working with youth with emotional or behavioral challenges, direct-service experience in human services, or post-secondary education in human services
  • Patience, compassion and a sense of humor
  • A team-first attitude and clear communication with people of all backgrounds
  • Calm under pressure and good judgment in tough moments
  • The energy to keep up with kids: running, playing, lifting and spending time indoors and outdoors
  • Physically able to manage escalated or aggressive behavior (we'll train you)
  • Respect for confidentiality
  • Willingness to complete Medication Aide training after hire
  • A valid driver's license is preferred
