Staff Accountant
Description

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

  

  • Record and reconcile revenue from recurring pool maintenance, repairs, equipment installations, chemicals, and other      customer charges.
  • Review service activity, work orders, pricing, credits, adjustments, and customer accounts to ensure accurate revenue      recognition and billing.
  • Support monthly billing for residential, commercial, and recurring service accounts; research and resolve billing exceptions,      duplicate charges, rejected invoices, and account discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for chemicals, parts, equipment, and other service inventory across warehouses and field      locations.
  • Reconcile inventory subledgers to the general ledger and review transfers, usage, adjustments, write-offs, negative balances,      and inventory variances.
  • Support cycle counts and physical inventories and coordinate corrections with Operations and Procurement.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for revenue, inventory,      deferred/unbilled amounts, and other assigned accounts.
  • Maintain the general ledger and support monthly close, including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss      statements.
  • Perform analytical reviews, investigate account variances, and maintain organized, audit-ready documentation.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash      and bank reconciliations, and other general accounting activities as      needed.
  • Assist with external audits, internal controls, tax filings, process documentation, and accounting projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, data quality, and financial controls.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of general and cost accounting principles and GAAP
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet monthly deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • One to three years of related accounting experience required.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
