Position Summary:
Precision X Manufacturing seeks an experienced Maintenance Leader to oversee maintenance in a high-precision manufacturing environment serving the medical and aerospace industries. This position ensures the safety, reliability, accuracy, and availability of production equipment, facility systems, tooling-support equipment, and manufacturing utilities.
The Maintenance Leader will supervise maintenance personnel, manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs, coordinate emergency repairs, and lead equipment-reliability improvements. This position requires a hands-on leader who can troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control-system issues while maintaining the documentation and process discipline required for highly regulated manufacturing.
The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Tooling, Environmental Health and Safety, and outside contractors to minimize downtime, protect product quality, and ensure that equipment remains capable of meeting demanding medical and aerospace requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, schedule, and support maintenance technicians across assigned shifts and manufacturing areas.
- Assign daily preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and improvement activities.
- Establish clear priorities based on employee safety, product quality, equipment condition, production requirements, and customer commitments.
- Provide hands-on technical support during complex equipment breakdowns and critical production interruptions.
- Monitor maintenance performance and ensure assigned work is completed safely, correctly, and on schedule.
- Develop maintenance employees' technical capabilities through coaching, cross-training, and structured skills development.
- Coordinate maintenance coverage across multiple shifts, weekends, planned shutdowns, and emergencies.
- Communicate equipment status, production risks, repair progress, and resource requirements to Operations leadership.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance program.
- Establish maintenance schedules and inspection frequencies based on equipment criticality, manufacturer recommendations, operating history, and production requirements.
- Implement condition-monitoring practices such as vibration analysis, thermal imaging, oil analysis, electrical inspection, and equipment-performance trending when appropriate.
- Coordinate planned maintenance with Production to minimize disruption to manufacturing schedules.
- Maintain accurate preventive maintenance documentation to support internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
- Equipment Troubleshooting and Repair
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic equipment failures.
- Support the maintenance and repair of precision stamping presses, CNC equipment, wire electrical discharge machines, grinders, mills, lathes, and related manufacturing equipment.
- Ensure that replacement components meet the equipment’s technical, quality, and safety requirements.
- Document equipment failures, completed repairs, replacement parts, test results, and follow-up actions.
- Escalate conditions that could affect employee safety, product quality, environmental compliance, or production capability.

Education and Experience
- Technical training in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, mechanical systems, automation, or a related field.
- At least five years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience troubleshooting industrial machinery and automated equipment.
- Experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems.
- Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to organize priorities and lead employees during high-pressure equipment breakdowns.
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to urgent equipment issues when required.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in a manufacturing environment that is adjacent to the shop work environment. The employee must be aware of potential hazards, including, but not limited to, working in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, operating vehicles, exposure to electrical current, high temperatures, and chemicals. Maintain a high level of alertness and caution while performing tasks in this work environment.
