Position Summary

The Marketing Assistant supports the day-to-day execution of digital marketing initiatives across National Western, The Legacy, and other National Western events and properties. This seasonal position will primarily focus on social media and CRM marketing, including content publishing, audience engagement, email marketing, and marketing coordination.

Working under the direction of the Digital Marketing Manager, this role will help turn established marketing strategies into timely, accurate, and engaging communications. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, digitally savvy, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.

What You’ll Do

Social Media

  • Schedule, publish, and maintain social media content across assigned National Western and The Legacy platforms.
  • Write and edit social media copy consistent with established brand voice and messaging.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to gather information, photography, video, and other content needed for social media.
  • Repurpose approved content across appropriate social media platforms.
  • Monitor relevant trends and identify timely content opportunities.
  • Assist with real-time social media coverage during events and activations.
  • Capture and edit basic photo and video content as needed.
  • Ensure published event details, ticketing information, dates, and calls to action are accurate.

Community Management

  • Monitor comments, direct messages, mentions, and audience engagement across assigned platforms.
  • Escalate customer service, reputational, or sensitive issues to the Digital Marketing Manager or appropriate team member.
  • Assist with comment moderation and identify recurring audience questions or concerns.

Email & CRM Marketing

  • Build, schedule, test, and deploy approved email campaigns.
  • Build emails using approved templates and established brand standards.
  • Coordinate email content, imagery, links, calls to action, and campaign details.
  • Conduct pre-send quality assurance, including proofreading, link testing, audience verification, formatting, dates, times, locations, and calls to action.
  • Schedule and deploy approved marketing, promotional, informational, and event communications.
  • Assist with automated emails and customer journeys as assigned.
  • Maintain organized records of email campaigns, templates, and communications.

Marketing & Department Support

  • Coordinate with internal departments to gather information and marketing assets for approved communications.
  • Serve as a point of contact for routine social media and email marketing requests.
  • Assist with small marketing and creative requests as assigned.
  • Support sponsorship and partnership marketing deliverables across social media and email.

Event & Campaign Support

  • Support established digital marketing campaigns across social media, email, website, ticketing, and other digital channels.
  • Assist with content and marketing needs during the National Western Stock Show and other events from October-January
  • Coordinate the collection and organization of photography, video, creative assets, and other marketing content.
  • Support real-time event coverage and time-sensitive communications as needed.

Reporting & Administrative Support

  • Track deadlines and follow up on outstanding content or deliverables.
  • Participate in marketing meetings and assist with follow-up as needed.
  • Support additional marketing projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Intern Oversight

  • Assist with the training and onboarding of Marketing & Communications interns leading up to and during the National Western Stock Show.
  • Help train interns on social media platforms, content standards, brand guidelines, publishing processes, and event coverage expectations.
  • Assist with assigning daily content responsibilities, schedules, and event coverage priorities.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to interns during the Stock Show.
  • Review intern-created content and provide feedback to ensure accuracy, quality, and brand consistency.
  • Serve as an additional resource for interns during event operations, escalating questions or issues to the Digital Marketing Manager as needed.

Requirements

Skills & Abilities

  • 1+ year of experience in marketing, digital marketing, social media, email marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience managing social media platforms for a brand, organization, or multiple audiences preferred.
  • Experience building or deploying marketing emails through an email marketing or CRM platform preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience with Canva or similar design tools preferred.
  • Basic photo and video editing skills preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing public-facing communications.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
  • Comfortable learning new marketing platforms, technology, and processes.
  • Experience with Western lifestyle, sports, entertainment, events, agriculture, or culturally relevant brands is a plus.


Physical Demands

National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist. While performing the duties of this job, work is performed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, on varied surfaces. In this role, individuals will experience prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Incumbent must be able to lift 15-25 pounds and access/navigate the National Western Complex in its entirety, with or without reasonable accommodation.


Compensation and Benefits

  • This is a seasonal, hourly position with a pay rate of $25/hr.
  • Paid sick time offered at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.


Seasonal Position: This is a temporary seasonal position with an anticipated end date of 02/01/2027. Employment may end earlier or be extended based on operational needs.

Salary Description
