General Job Summary:

The Institutional Banking Associate supports New Horizon Bank’s growing institutional banking business and works closely with the SVP, Institutional Banking to onboard, manage, and expand relationships with institutional and private banking clients. The position will work with clients including hedge funds, investment firms, financial services companies, strategic partners, executives, fund managers, investors, and other high-value individuals. This is not an administrative support position. The Institutional Banking Associate is expected to develop banking expertise, build direct client relationships, solve problems, and increasingly take ownership of client relationships and opportunities. The role provides an opportunity for an earlier-career banker to gain significant exposure to sophisticated clients, senior Bank leadership, and a growing institutional banking business.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build direct relationships with institutional and private banking clients and deliver responsive, personalized service.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of client relationships, account structures, banking needs, key contacts, and outstanding issues.
  • Coordinate internal resources to resolve client requests accurately and promptly.
  • Provide backup coverage for the SVP, Institutional Banking, with increasing ownership of assigned relationships over time.

Client Onboarding & Treasury Solutions

  • Coordinate onboarding from initial documentation through account opening and implementation.
  • Partner with Deposit Operations, Treasury Management, Compliance, Lending, Technology, and other teams to execute client needs.
  • Support deposit structures, payments, wires, ACH, online banking, account access, and treasury management implementation.
  • Track outstanding items, resolve potential issues, and ensure client commitments are fulfilled.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through additional deposits, treasury services, lending, and other Bank capabilities.

Institutional & Private Banking

  • Support relationships sourced through Clear Street, White Bay Group, hedge funds, investment firms, strategic partners, and the Bank’s broader network.
  • Assist with referrals, client and prospect meetings, meeting preparation, and follow-up.
  • Support the banking needs of executives, fund managers, investors, entrepreneurs, and other private banking clients.
  • Develop a working knowledge of hedge funds, alternative investments, investment managers, and the financial services industry.

Business Development

  • Research prospective clients, companies, funds, and industries aligned with the Bank’s strategy.
  • Maintain relationship pipelines, track referrals, and support business development through client meetings, partner visits, events, and conferences.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen existing relationships and, as experience develops, independently cultivate new relationships.

Education and Experience:

  • Banking, financial services, relationship management, or treasury management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
