Description

Junior Embedded Software Developer - Network Switch

Location: Hanoi, Vietnam. Full-time.

About the role

An entry-level position on a new switching software team in Hanoi. You will be trained in embedded networking software by senior developers, working on real products deployed with European telecom operators.

We are hiring for aptitude. You are not expected to know switching. You are expected to program well in C, to be genuinely curious about how networks work underneath the abstractions, and to stay with a problem until you understand it.

What you will do

  • Start with build and test work: producing images, running regression tests, reproducing reported defects, and becoming fluent with our lab hardware.
  • Progress to implementing features and fixes under the guidance of a senior developer.
  • Write and extend automated tests.
  • Help maintain the team's documentation and build environment.
  • Learn the platform - the silicon, the software stack and the protocols - deliberately and with support.

What we offer

A structured first job in a specialism with a long runway. Mentorship from senior developers, real product responsibility earlier than a large outsourcing firm would offer, and exposure to an international engineering organisation spanning Vietnam, the United States and Brazil.

Requirements
  • 1 – 2 years of professional experience. Recent graduates welcome.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications or a related field.
  • Programming in C - solid fundamentals: pointers, memory, data structures. Demonstrated through coursework, personal projects or internship.
  • Comfortable using Linux as a working environment: shell, build tools, Git.
  • Interest in embedded systems and hardware. Any personal project with a microcontroller, a Raspberry Pi or similar is a real positive.
  • English reading ability sufficient to work from technical documentation.
  • Willingness to learn and to ask questions early.

Nice to have

  • Internship or academic project in embedded systems, networking or telecoms.
  • Exposure to Python, scripting or test automation.
  • Coursework in computer networks, operating systems or computer architecture.
  • Any hardware debug experience — oscilloscope, logic analyser, serial console.
