Impact Summary:
MTech is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist II to set up, operate, and maintain CNC machine tools to produce precision, tight-tolerance components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and quality requirements.
Working in a hands-on manufacturing environment, this position supports both prototype and production work, from short-run development parts to higher-volume manufacturing. The CNC Machinist II will machine a variety of materials, including aluminum, steel, brass, titanium, and composites, while applying sound knowledge of machining practices, material properties, tooling, speeds and feeds, and precision measurement.
The successful candidate will independently perform routine and moderately complex machining operations, troubleshoot machining issues, support process improvements, and maintain high standards for safety, quality, efficiency, and workmanship. This role works closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality to deliver accurate, conforming components for aerospace and defense applications.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC mills, lathes, or other CNC machine tools to produce precision components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and work instructions.
- Verify dimensions and product requirements throughout the machining process and make necessary adjustments to maintain specifications.
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and productivity.
- Inspect parts throughout the machining process using micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and other precision inspection equipment.
- Safely operate CNC equipment and supporting machinery while following established safety procedures and company policies.
- Produce complex and close-tolerance parts while maintaining dimensional accuracy and quality requirements.
- Support prototype development and provide practical machining input to Engineering, including fabrication of experimental or developmental components.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain tooling, equipment, and work areas.
- Support production schedules and perform other manufacturing duties as required.
- Follow all company safety, quality, environmental, and manufacturing procedures.
Competencies:
- Demonstrates ability to set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes and produce precision parts to close tolerances.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
- Recognizes machining issues during production and implements corrective actions.
- Proficient use of precision measurement equipment and ability to verify parts against drawing requirements.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to independently evaluate and resolve routine machining challenges.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Minimum up to 2 years of hands-on CNC Machining experience in a production, aerospace, defense, or job-shop environment.
- Demonstrated experience independently setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes.
- Experience programming, setting up, fixturing, and operating CNC machines to produce precision parts to close tolerances preferred.
- Working knowledge of CNC controls and ability to perform basic program edits and offset adjustments.
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and other precision inspection equipment.
- Experience machining materials such as aluminum, steel, brass, titanium, and composites.
- Ability to troubleshoot machining processes and make appropriate process adjustments.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on CNC machining equipment.
- Experience with CAM-generated CNC programs preferred.
- Experience with NX software preferred.
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, Kitamura, Okuma, Siemens, or similar CNC controls preferred.
- Ability to safely operate CNC and general fabrication equipment and hand tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively with others in a professional manufacturing environment.
- U.S. citizenship required due to DoD contract requirements.
- Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Salary Information:
The estimated salary range for this position will be $25-32 per hour, based on the successful candidates experience, qualifications, skill set, and market conditions.
