Position Summary:

The Engineering Administrator is a site-based role that supports Engineering and Design activities at the assigned ABEC location by administering and improving engineering processes, data, documentation, and departmental operations. This role performs repeatable, transactional, documentation-heavy, and administrative activities that enable Engineers, Designers, Technical Leads, and Managers to remain focused on technical execution. The Engineering Administrator primarily supports the assigned site while collaborating with Engineering Administrators and Engineering leadership across ABEC’s global organization to promote consistent processes, accurate engineering data, timely workflow execution, and continuous improvement. The role facilitates and administers engineering processes but does not independently make technical engineering decisions or approve technical content unless separately qualified and authorized.


Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain part numbers and associated engineering master data in applicable business systems.

• Support creation, maintenance, and modification of Bills of Material (BOMs) in accordance with established engineering processes and approvals.

• Coordinate and process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Engineering Release Notices (ERNs), and related engineering change documentation; ensure required information, approvals, and supporting documentation are complete prior to release.

• Support the accuracy, organization, and maintenance of engineering documents, records, files, and data within applicable ERP, PLM, document control, and departmental systems.

• Develop and maintain process maps, workflows, templates, work instructions, standard practices, policies, and procedures in collaboration with Engineering subject matter experts and leadership.

• Assist with standardizing engineering administrative processes and workflows across functions and global sites.

• Provide general administrative and operational support to the Engineering department, including recurring and ad hoc needs that improve team effectiveness.

• Support departmental reporting and data collection, including preparation and maintenance of Engineering metrics, trackers, dashboards, and status information.

• Coordinate meetings, action items, follow-ups, and departmental communications as assigned.

• Support Engineering onboarding, training coordination, document distribution, and maintenance of training or reference materials.

• Act as a liaison between Engineering and other departments for assigned administrative workflows and transactions, including Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Document Control.

• Support Engineering leaders with special projects, organizational initiatives, and administrative activities as business needs arise.

• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, or otherwise improve Engineering administrative processes and actively support Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.

• Track assigned workload, priorities, turnaround times, and open actions; communicate status, constraints, and support needs to Engineering leadership.

• Travel to other ABEC locations as required to support collaboration, process alignment, workshops, training, onboarding, and other departmental initiatives.

• Execute other duties as required.


Qualifications:

• Associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant experience in Engineering Technology, Business, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.

• 1-3 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, technical administration, document control, project support, or similar environment preferred.

• Experience working with ERP, PLM, document management, or other enterprise business systems preferred.

• Experience supporting part number creation, BOM maintenance, engineering change processes, or controlled technical documentation is a plus.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow work through to completion.

• Strong written communication skills with the ability to draft and organize procedures, policies, work instructions, process maps, and other business documentation.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with process mapping, workflow, reporting, or collaboration tools is a plus.

• Ability to work independently in a site-based role while building effective working relationships across functions and locations.

• Comfort working with Engineers, Designers, Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to gather information, coordinate actions, and support standardized processes.

• Awareness of Continuous Improvement (CI), Lean, or process improvement principles is a plus.

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
