The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $28 to $38 hourly. 

  • Day shift: work hours are 4/10 hour days, Monday-Thursday

POSITION SUMMARY


Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of welded structures. The primary responsibility in the role is to inspect and assess the quality of welds performed by others, ensuring they meet specified standards and codes.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect and evaluate the quality of welds performed on structures and materials
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Interpret and apply codes, standards, specifications, and procedures
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Conduct visual inspections of welds and welding procedures
  • Prepare detailed reports of inspection findings
  •  Prepare, witness tests, and complete associated paperwork and records through the ASME Quality Manager. 
  • Use nondestructive testing (NDT) methods to evaluate welds.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and stay updated with industry developments through continuous learning
  • Inspect various materials and parts for specification and conformity related to code and non-code work as needed. Prepares and completes associated paperwork and records.
  • Assists the ASME Quality Manager with code and non-code welding-related tasks as needed.
  • Interacts with employees engaged in welding and testing activities to ensure continuous control over all welding processes.
  • Assist in maintenance and control of NDE testing equipment, including magnetic particle testing yoke and supplies, ultrasonic testing equipment and supplies, and the PMI gun. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is required
  • 3-7 years of experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Proven work experience as a Welding Inspector or similar role
  • Extensive knowledge of welding processes and industry standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding process specifications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


The company fosters a manufacturing-type environment. This position will primarily involve operating a computer at a desk in an office environment.

Salary Description
$28-$38/hour
