The Network Administrator owns the networks and phone systems that keep Southern Orthodontic Partners’ practices running. That covers the full lifecycle: designing the architecture, building out new practices, supporting what is in place today, and fixing it when it breaks. Our practices run on a mix of Cisco Meraki and Ubiquiti UniFi, so this person will play a central role in keeping that environment consistent, secure, and ready to scale as we add practices. The role is also the go-to resource for keeping our x-ray and imaging equipment connected, which is the most common network issue our practices face. It owns telephony as well, including the VoIP systems our practices depend on to answer patient calls and keep schedules full. We are growing quickly and adding practices, so this individual needs to be organized, hands-on, and comfortable building standards while the work is already moving.
Essential Job Functions*:
- Own the design, standards, and documentation of the network across all partner practices and the central support team, including LAN, WAN, wireless, SD-WAN, and site-to-site VPN.
- Administer and support Cisco Meraki and Ubiquiti UniFi environments, including security gateways, switches, access points, and centralized cloud management.
- Own network connectivity for x-ray and imaging equipment across all practices, including panoramic, cephalometric, and CBCT units, imaging servers and acquisition workstations, and intraoral scanners.
- Plan and lead network refreshes and platform changes across practices, including site assessments, equipment lists, configuration templates, cutover scheduling, and rollback plans that keep clinics running.
- Own telephony across the organization, including VoIP platforms, SIP trunking, phone numbers and porting, call flows, auto attendants, hunt groups, and voicemail.
- Design and build network and phone systems for new practice partnerships and new office openings, from site survey and cabling requirements through installation and go-live.
- Configure and maintain firewall policies, VLANs and network segmentation, wireless security, and remote access in line with HIPAA and company security requirements.
- Monitor network and voice performance, availability, and capacity, and address issues before they reach patients or practice teams.
- Serve as the escalation point for network and telephony incidents from the service desk, and lead troubleshooting through resolution and root cause.
- Manage internet, circuit, and voice carriers, including ordering, outages, escalations, and contract and billing reviews.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including topology diagrams, IP addressing, configurations, circuit inventories, and runbooks.
- Manage firmware, patching, and lifecycle replacement for network and voice equipment, following change management.
- Partner with cybersecurity on vulnerability remediation, logging, and security reviews of the network.
- Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and on-call coverage for network and voice issues.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki and Ubiquiti UniFi, including cloud-managed configuration and templates.
- Strong understanding of routing, switching, and core protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, QoS, and VPN.
- Working knowledge of VoIP and telephony, including SIP, voice quality troubleshooting, and number porting.
- Experience troubleshooting networked dental or medical imaging devices, including static addressing, DICOM, imaging server connectivity, and working with imaging vendors.
- Experience planning and executing network migrations or hardware refreshes across many sites with minimal downtime.
- Working knowledge of firewall and wireless security and of HIPAA requirements for protecting patient data.
- Ability to produce clear network diagrams and documentation that others can follow.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of network administration experience, including multi-site LAN, WAN, and wireless
- Experience supporting a distributed, multi-site organization
- 3+ years of hands-on experience administering VoIP and business telephony systems
- Demonstrated experience with Cisco Meraki and/or Ubiquiti UniFi platforms
- Ability to travel to partner practices as needed (approximately 25%)
Preferred:
- Experience leading a large-scale network platform migration
- Experience supporting a multi-site healthcare organization, such as dental or medical practices, including x-ray and imaging system connectivity
- CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Cisco Meraki (CMNA), or Ubiquiti certifications
