Wichita, KS • Information Technology

Full-time
Description

We are looking for a curious, collaborative problem solver to join our team as Manager, Business Systems & Transformation.

This role will work across Star Lumber's different divisions and departments to help us improve how work gets done. The right person will enjoy learning how a business operates, asking good questions, bringing people together, simplifying processes, and helping turn ideas into real improvements.

This person will serve as a bridge between our business teams, technology resources, data, and leadership. Some initiatives may involve implementing or improving technology, while others may focus primarily on process, data, communication, or organizational change.

The goal isn't technology for technology's sake. It's helping Star operate more efficiently, consistently, and as one company.

A Typical Day Might Include

  • Meet with employees and leaders to understand a business problem or opportunity.
  •  Help simplify or standardize processes across Star.
  • Help establish and govern common standards for important business data, including definitions, required information, ownership, and how data is used across systems.
  • Work with business and technology teams to determine the best solution.
  • Measure whether implemented changes are delivering the intended business results and identify opportunities for continued improvement.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and serve as project manager when needed.
  • Coordinate internal teams, vendors, and other resources to keep work moving.
  • Help lead organizational change and adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working.
  • Identify opportunities to use technology, data, automation, or AI to improve the business.
Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand business processes and identify the underlying need.
  • Ability to bring people together, challenge assumptions, and lead cross-functional change through influence.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence others outside of direct reporting relationships.
  • Interest in business systems, data, process improvement, automation, and emerging technology.
  • Experience in business operations, process improvement, business analysis, systems implementation, project leadership, or similar cross-functional work is preferred.
  • Experience in distribution, manufacturing, construction, or a multi-location business is a plus.
  • Formal project management training or certification is a plus but not required.
  • At least five years’ experience managing a professional team.

This position reports to the Chief Information Officer and works across Star Lumber's businesses and functional teams.

All offers are contingent upon successfully completing pre-employment testing, including: background check, drug and alcohol screen and applicable fitness test.
