USAging is the national association representing and supporting the network of Area Agencies on Aging and advocating for the Title VI Native American Aging Programs. Our members help older adults and people with disabilities throughout the United States live with optimal health, well-being, independence and dignity in their homes and communities.
As the local leaders on aging well at home our members develop, coordinate and deliver a wide range of home and community-based services, including information and referral/assistance, case management, home-delivered and congregate meals, in-home services, caregiver supports, transportation, evidence-based health and wellness programs, long-term care ombudsman programs and more.
USAging is dedicated to supporting the success of our members in supporting the nation’s growing population of older adults, people with disabilities and caregivers through advancing public policy, sparking innovation, strengthening the capacity of our members, raising their visibility and working to drive excellence in the fields of aging and home and community-based services.
Job Summary
The Program Associate has a supporting role in the National Resource Center on Nutrition and Aging (NRCNA) at USAging. The goal of USAging and our partners in the NRCNA is to support the aging and disability network to scale senior nutrition programs nationwide in alignment with the Older Americans Act and to advance ACL’s Whole Person Health strategic priority and the Make America Healthy again agenda. USAging will work closely with Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and Title VI Native American Programs to strengthen the network’s ability to scale nutrition program innovations nationwide, ensure a clear return on ACL’s investment, and provide technical assistance to the Aging Network to scale and replicate the most successful models.
Job Title: Program Associate
Reports to: Program Director
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and preparation of materials, newsletter articles, research papers, PowerPoint presentations, blog posts, social media posts, website content and other written products.
- Support work plan implementation.
- Conduct program research, including literature reviews and other research, and synthesize findings.
- Help maintain ongoing communications with partners and members and support administration of an online peer communication platform.
- Assist with planning and execution of training and events, peer-to-peer sessions and webinars, taking responsibility for the effective use of support technology.
- Analyze data and draft reports or other communications with the findings.
- Utilize project management tools, including Excel and project management tools, to organize and manage program activities.
- Prepare notes on meeting proceedings for distribution to participants.
- Provide administrative support for the team by scheduling team meetings, partner meetings, grantee meetings and responding to correspondence.
- Organize and maintain electronic and hard-copy project materials.
- Support other work as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree required, with one to two years of relevant professional experience preferred, including experience working to support team functions
- Quantitative and data analysis skills a plus; ability to present data effectively using graphs, charts and other formats
- Excellent attention to detail, deadlines and organizational and time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Awareness of 508 compliance
- Familiarity with social media, newsletter, blog and website platforms
- Experience with Constant Contact or other email platforms, Survey Monkey or other survey platforms, and webinar/communications broadcast platforms is preferred
- Experience with website maintenance platforms is preferred
- Flexibility and an ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed
- Self-starter with proven problem-solving skills
- Must have an all-hands-on-deck attitude and a willingness to pitch in when needed
- Passion for USAging’s mission of helping older adults age in place and maintain their health and independence for as long as possible
WORK HOURS AND LOCATION
This full-time position is based in USAging’s Washington, DC, office. USAging will consider candidates outside of the Washington, DC area. The successful candidate will also be able to occasionally travel to member conferences and always attend the USAging Annual Conference and Tradeshow each summer for up to six days.
