Material Logistics Operator Job Category: Non-Exempt Department/Group: Production Location: 801 Friendship Drive, Harrisonburg, VA Travel Required: Little to none Job Summary Within the Mission and Strategic Plan established for Friendship Industries, Inc. and Able Solutions, Inc., the Material Logistics Operator is responsible for material movement, forklift operation, inventory support, production line support, and operator-assisted maintenance activities. This position plays a critical role in ensuring materials are available where needed, production lines operate efficiently, and materials and finished products are transported, stored, and staged safely. Employees in this role will be cross-trained and routinely rotated between material handling and forklift operation duties to maintain proficiency in all aspects of the position and provide operational flexibility. Material Logistics Operators are expected to support production, warehouse, logistics, and maintenance-related activities while demonstrating initiative, teamwork, adaptability, and a commitment to safety and quality. All Material Logistics Operators are expected to maintain qualification and proficiency in both material handling and forklift operation functions. Employees may be assigned to either responsibility area based on operational needs, training requirements, and business demands. Production and Material Handling • Read purchase orders and production schedules to select and stage the correct materials for production lines. • Load, unload, move, stack, and store raw materials, finished products, and merchandise safely and efficiently. • Ensure production lines do not experience unnecessary downtime due to delayed movement of incoming materials or finished goods. • Transport, rotate, replenish, and organize materials throughout production areas and workstations. • Assist in setting up production lines and moving equipment during production runs. • Locate and move stock to pallets, crates, storage locations, or shipping areas. Forklift and Equipment Operation • Safely operate forklifts, powered lifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
