Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Heating & Plumbing Area Install Manager to lead and grow our residential installation operations in Juneau, Alaska. This is a field leadership role for an experienced trades professional who can lead people, solve problems, maintain quality, and hold teams accountable.

Our business is primarily residential heating and plumbing—approximately 60% heating and 40% plumbing—with limited HVAC work. The manager will own day-to-day department performance, including hiring, firing, training, quality control, troubleshooting, productivity, safety, customer issues, and team development. This is a hands-on role requiring significant field presence and coaching.

The long-term opportunity is to build a high-performing department and advance into broader operational leadership as the company grows.

Responsibilities & Expectations

· Lead residential heating and plumbing installation, replacement, repair, and remodeling throughout Juneau, with limited HVAC work.

· Serve as the primary technical escalation point for difficult heating and plumbing troubleshooting, installation issues, and unexpected field conditions.

· Work alongside technicians when needed to diagnose problems, demonstrate proper techniques, and teach less-experienced employees.

· Drive productivity, job efficiency, profitability, and accountability while maintaining quality.

· Perform field quality control and inspections; identify deficiencies and ensure they are corrected.

· Set and enforce standards for workmanship, code compliance, safety, cleanliness, customer service, and job completion.

· Resolve customer and field issues professionally while maintaining project alignment and code compliance.

· Hire, onboard, coach, develop, and hold technicians and apprentices accountable; manage a team scaling to 8+ direct reports.

· Identify appropriate opportunities for system improvements, upgrades, accessories, and additional work.

· Use ServiceTitan or similar field-service software for scheduling, project tracking, timekeeping, documentation, and customer communication.

· Report to the shop at 6:45 AM for morning alignment, vehicle loading, and team briefings.

What Can We Do for You?

· High-tier hourly rate plus performance bonuses tied to team performance, efficiency, department targets, and appropriate sales opportunities; $80,000–$125,000+ total effective annual compensation.

· Clear path toward broader operational leadership as the department and company grow.

· IRA with a 3% company match and employee tax-free healthcare expense reimbursement program.

· PTO based on seniority, starting at 2 weeks paid vacation in Year 1 after the 90-day probationary period.

· Boot reimbursement plus full company-provided uniforms.

· Tight-knit workplace with accessible leaders focused on hands-on coaching, training, and long-term career development.

Requirements

 What We Are Looking For

· Extensive hands-on experience in residential heating and plumbing installation, replacement, repair, and remodeling.

· Strong knowledge of residential heating, plumbing, heat pumps, forced-air systems, and related equipment. HVAC experience is a plus, but not the primary focus.

· Prior foreman, lead technician, service manager, field supervisor, or comparable leadership experience with responsibility for developing and holding field personnel accountable.

· A hands-on people leader who enjoys field work, troubleshooting difficult problems, teaching technicians, and setting the standard for quality workmanship.

· Strong diagnostic skills, trade-tool proficiency, plan/blueprint reading, and knowledge of applicable codes and best practices.

· Strong communication and customer-service skills with the ability to resolve field problems independently.

· ServiceTitan or similar field-service management experience preferred.

· Relevant heating/plumbing licenses or certifications preferred; EPA certification and/or journeyman's license is a plus.

· Valid driver's license with clean MVR. Local candidates or candidates willing to relocate to Juneau are encouraged to apply.

· Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Leadership Profile

The right candidate is an experienced tradesperson who has proven leadership ability—not simply the best technician on the crew. You should be comfortable diagnosing difficult jobs, helping solve them, teaching through the situation, and holding people accountable when standards are not met.

We want someone who will build a team and department, not simply manage a schedule. This person should take ownership of results, develop people, and have the judgment to coach, intervene, and make personnel decisions.
