Staff Accountant
Description

 About the Opportunity

Are you an experienced accounting professional who takes pride in accurate work, enjoys solving problems, and looks for ways to make processes better? Faithward Companies is seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative Staff Accountant to support our growing family of professional-services organizations.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will support day-to-day accounting and share responsibility for multi-state payroll processing. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to contribute across accounts payable, reconciliations, financial reporting, and payroll while helping strengthen the systems and processes that support our team.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage daily accounting activities: Maintain accurate financial records, record revenue and receipts, support billing and accounts receivable, and ensure transactions are assigned to the correct entity, account, and accounting period.
  • Own the accounts payable workflow: Review invoices, verify coding and approvals, prepare payments, maintain vendor documentation, resolve discrepancies, and support applicable Form 1099 reporting.
  • Support accurate financial reporting: Complete bank and credit card reconciliations; prepare journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expense schedules; and assist with month-end and year-end close, financial statements, and budget-to-actual analysis.
  • Support law firm and multi-entity accounting: Track client and matter-related costs, coordinate billable expense recovery, support intercompany reconciliations, and assist designated personnel with client funds or trust account reconciliations when assigned.
  • Share ownership of payroll: Partner with the Accounting and Payroll Associate to process multi-state biweekly and semimonthly payrolls, maintain cross-training and backup coverage, and coordinate payroll updates with HR.
  • Maintain payroll accuracy: Verify earnings, deductions, benefits changes, and garnishments; reconcile payroll records and tax liabilities; and coordinate with the payroll provider on tax filings, year-end reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Support audits and financial reviews: Prepare records and schedules for external advisors, tax preparation, and workers’ compensation audits.
  • Improve processes and service: Document procedures, strengthen controls, recommend practical improvements, and respond professionally to employee, manager, and vendor inquiries.
