Description

Stabbert Maritime is a family-owned company with a proud legacy spanning over 50 years and two generations. We provide a comprehensive range of innovative solutions and support services to clients in the offshore scientific research, subsea, defense, and ship repair industries. Stabbert is currently looking for a Senior Accountant.   Remote, with a preference for 4 days per month in our Ballard, WA office.

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to support core accounting operations across our multi-entity organization. This role maintains general ledger integrity through accurate, timely recording of transactions, supports month-end reconciliations, and backs up payroll, AR, and AP as needed. It is a working role, not a management role — the Senior Accountant is expected to do the work directly, bring strong technical accounting skills, and improve how the team operates. The ideal candidate has solid GAAP knowledge, multi-entity experience (ideally with pass-through entities), and the judgment to work independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

General Ledger & Month-End Close

• Assist Accounting Managers in preparing monthly reconciliation of accounts.

• Post general journal transactions, including intercompany transfers.

• Review general ledger accounts for proper recording of transactions and correct as needed.

Team Support & Process Improvement

• Supervise and back-up payroll, AR, and AP functions as needed.

• Develop new or improve upon existing processes or technology to create greater efficiencies.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger functions. CPA credentials strongly preferred.

• Experience in a multi-entity accounting environment, preferably with pass-through entities

• Technologically savvy with excellent Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Quickbooks Enterprise software

• High degree of personal integrity

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Consistently meets or exceeds deadlines/commitments

• Communicates well in different forms and with people from different backgrounds

• Stays composed and responsive during month-end close and competing deadlines

• Self-starter with a high degree of problem-solving skills

Job Requirements

• Maintain strict confidentiality of company financial and employee information.

• Work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal direct supervision.

• Work adjusted hours as needed to meet month-end close and reporting deadlines.

• Maintain a reliable, secure remote work setup with high-speed internet.

• Comply with all company policies, including data security and confidentiality requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Performance-based bonus program
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid vacation and paid holidays
