The Director of Rebuilds builds and executes the company’s strategy for machine and component rebuilds, growing rebuild revenue and making Riggs the first choice for customers who want to extend the life of their equipment. The Director owns the rebuild program from start to finish, from identifying opportunities in the machine population to selling, quoting, scheduling, and delivering every rebuild on time and on budget. As part of a Perfect Branch, the Director leads by example in living the Riggs Way — Urgent, Selfless, Excellent — building a rebuild program that delivers unmatched value for clients, a home for employees, and service to the community, consistently and not occasionally.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Every branch is built on three equal pillars — Client Experience, Operational Excellence, and Store Culture. Strong in two and broken in one is not Perfect.
Client Experience
- Help customers make informed repair-versus-rebuild-versus-replace decisions, presenting clear options, pricing, and life-cycle value.
- Build relationships with key and strategic accounts to identify fleets and machines that are strong rebuild candidates.
- Promote the full range of rebuild solutions, including Cat Certified Rebuilds, CPT rebuilds, CCR rebuilds, and before-failure repair programs.
- Ensure every rebuild customer receives clear scope, accurate quotes, regular status updates, and a quality finished product delivered when promised.
- Serve as the point of escalation for rebuild-related customer concerns, owning the outcome until the customer is taken care of.
Operational Excellence
- Develop and execute the company-wide rebuild strategy, including annual revenue, margin, and unit goals by region and branch.
- Use machine population, hours, and condition monitoring data to build a rebuild pipeline and forecast future demand.
- Partner with Service and Parts leadership on shop capacity, scheduling, parts availability, and workflow so rebuilds are completed on time and on budget.
- Standardize rebuild processes, including inspection, quoting, pricing, warranty, and quality control, across all locations.
- Work with Caterpillar and Riggs marketing to plan and launch rebuild campaigns and ensure compliance with Cat rebuild program requirements.
- Own rebuild forecasting, budgeting, and expense management, and report results to senior leadership.
Store Culture
- Train and support Product Support Sales Managers and PSSRs to identify, sell, and quote rebuild opportunities.
- Partner with Service leaders to develop technician skills and certifications needed to deliver quality rebuilds.
- Ensure every team member supporting the rebuild program receives clear expectations, a task list, and ownership of at least one metric, holding the team accountable to the Perfect Branch standard.
- Champion CAT and Riggs rebuild initiatives and model the Riggs Way every day, building a team that is proud of where they work and how they show up.
WHAT YOU'LL BE MEASURED ON
As part of the Perfect Branch standard, the Director owns rebuild results for the entire organization and ensures every team member supporting the program has clear expectations, a task list, and ownership of at least one metric. Rebuild performance is tracked on real-time scorecards, reviewed monthly, as part of every branch’s progress toward Perfect Branch performance.
