Stormwater Assistant Branch Manager
Description

At TIGRIS Aquatic Services, we believe that healthy waters lead to thriving communities. We're seeking a driven Assistant Branch Manager to join our growing team of outdoor enthusiasts providing essential top-tier surface water management solutions across the US.

We provide lake and pond management, aquatic vegetation and algae control, fountains and aeration, water quality management, fisheries management, wetland restoration, and stormwater infrastructure services to homeowners associations, lake associations, golf courses, property managers, municipalities and industrial clients. If you're ready to make a measurable impact on our most precious natural resource alongside a driven team of like-minded individuals, we want to hear from you!

The Stormwater Assistant Branch Manager is the technical and field execution leader of the branch with knowledge of stormwater infrastructure, stormwater management, and stormwater maintenance/repair.  The Assistant Branch Manager is accountable for whether the work in the field gets done right — safely, efficiently, and to contract specification. The role is roughly 50% field and 50% branch office, reports to the Branch Manager, and directly supervises field technicians and crew leads. It is the most technically demanding leadership role at the branch and carries a clear development path into branch leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Field Execution & Technical Leadership

  • Direct daily field operations and supervise technicians and crew leads across all branch service lines — lake and pond management, vegetation and algae control, fountains and aeration, water quality, wetland restoration, harvesting, stormwater infrastructure and fisheries.
  • Diagnose site conditions and prescribe treatment: identify aquatic vegetation and algae species, interpret water quality data, select the appropriate control method and product, and adjust as conditions and seasons change.
  • Calculate application rates and product volumes, verify equipment calibration, and personally run the technically difficult, high-risk and high-visibility jobs.
  • Serve as the branch's technical authority on product labels, permits, restricted-use compliance and treatment records; conduct field quality inspections and ride-alongs, correcting on the spot and closing the loop through training.

Crew Supervision & Development

  • Assign daily work, run morning huddles and pre-job briefings, and confirm every crew has the equipment, product, PPE and documentation required before leaving the yard.
  • Train technicians on plant and algae identification, application technique, equipment operation, boat handling and trailering, water quality sampling and documentation standards.
  • Own the technician development path — onboarding, licensing and certification progression, skills assessment and crew lead readiness — keeping 100% of field staff licensed and certified.
  • Provide day-to-day performance feedback, recommend recognition and corrective action, and participate in recruiting, interviewing and selecting field staff.

Productivity, Quality & Cost

  • Drive technician utilization and billable hours to the 65% company target; eliminate lost time, excessive drive time and unproductive routing.
  • Own rework and field-originated complaints — investigate every touch-up, respond to complaints the same day, correct the condition, and eliminate the root cause through training or process change.
  • Ensure work orders are closed in the field to the 95% accuracy standard — valid timestamps, service notes, product usage and photographs — and control chemical use per acre and inventory accuracy.

Safety

  • Lead safety in the field: enforce PPE, boat and water safety, chemical handling, mixing and storage, traffic control and equipment lockout procedures.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety observations, job hazard analyses and incident investigations; implement and verify corrective action, driving toward zero preventable recordables.
  • Maintain safety data sheets, license records and training documentation for field staff.
  • Stop work when conditions are unsafe. No exceptions, no negotiation.

Equipment, Vehicles & Inventory

  • Ensure trucks, trailers, boats and motors, spray rigs, pumps, harvesters, aeration equipment and hand tools are inspected, maintained and mission-ready above 95% availability; enforce daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and escalate repair needs before they become downtime.
  • Manage chemical and parts inventory — counts, compliant storage and reorder points — and support procurement with usage forecasts and equipment recommendations.

Customer Interaction in the Field

  • Meet customers on site: explain what is being done and why, set realistic expectations on treatment timelines and results, and run pre-job meetings and post-service reviews on larger projects.
  • Identify additional service needs and site conditions that represent opportunity; document them and route them for pricing, and support proposals with site assessments and production estimates.
  • De-escalate field-level concerns on the spot, and escalate anything commercial, contractual or potentially a liability to branch leadership immediately.

Branch Support & Development

  • Serve as the senior on-site leader when branch leadership is away, and support scheduling and forecasting with production capacity and crew availability input.
  • Build business acumen: participate in budget reviews and field operating cost tracking, and keep developing leadership, coaching and customer service skills.
Requirements
  •  Three or more years of field experience in lake and pond or aquatic vegetation management, or environmental services, including at least one year supervising a crew.
  •  GSWCC Level 2 certification or ability to obtain with a year.
  •  Erosion, Sediment and/or storm water inspection certification preferred.
  • State aquatic pesticide applicator license (aquatics category or state equivalent), or the demonstrated ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
  • Technical proficiency in aquatic plant and algae identification, herbicide and algaecide selection, label compliance, application rate calculation and equipment calibration.
  • Boat operation and trailering experience, comfort working on and around water, and the ability to operate, troubleshoot and maintain spray rigs, pumps, outboard motors and related field equipment.
  • Proven ability to direct, train and hold accountable a field crew.
  • Proficiency with mobile work order software and office applications, and a track record of accurate, timely field documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; willingness to work early hours, occasional weekends and variable schedules driven by season and weather.
  • Degree or coursework in biology, environmental science, natural resources or agriculture preferred, along with credentials such as CDL or DOT certification, NPDES / stormwater qualifications, OSHA 10 or 30, or boating safety certification. Bilingual English / Spanish a plus.
  • Must be capable of meeting the physical demands of field supervision — walking uneven terrain and shorelines, lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, launching and trailering small watercraft — and working outdoors in all seasons around water, equipment and treatment chemicals with appropriate PPE. Reasonable accommodations provided where applicable.
