Build the systems, training, and practical safety programs that help POLYWOOD teams work safely and consistently across locations.
About POLYWOOD
POLYWOOD is changing what it means to own outdoor furniture. For 35 years, we've built iconic outdoor furniture from recycled HDPE lumber—designed to outlast weather, kids, and trends. We're a vertically integrated American manufacturer with a brand that's growing into something bigger: the outdoor home. As we scale into the next era of brand-led growth, we're building teams that support safe, consistent operations and help POLYWOOD grow responsibly.
About the Role
POLYWOOD is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to manage safety systems, develop practical training and procedures, and lead the implementation of assigned safety programs. Based in Indiana, this role supports operations in Indiana and North Carolina and partners closely with site safety teams, Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, and IT.
Reporting to the Director of EHS, the EHS Coordinator serves as the business administrator for HSI and Paylocity Learning and owns defined programs, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and contractor management. You’ll translate approved requirements into usable procedures and rollout plans, coordinate technical reviews, support managers during implementation, and maintain organized, audit-ready records. Initial priorities will include stabilizing HSI and learning administration and leading one or two defined program implementations, such as lockout/tagout or contractor management. EHS leadership will establish a phased work plan based on risk, readiness, and available resources.

What You'll Do
HSI System Administration
- Maintain HSI forms, workflows, inspection templates, assignments, notifications and reports.
- Improve data quality across sites, departments and shifts; build dashboards for incidents, inspections, training and corrective actions.
- Coordinate vendor support and system improvements. Define business needs and validate results with IT, which owns integrations, security and access controls.
Paylocity Learning and Practical Training
- Maintain the safety training catalog, role-based assignments, learning paths, completion records and reminders.
- Develop practical procedures, job aids and training materials based on actual work tasks. Coordinate technical review before release.
- Coordinate hands-on instruction, evaluations and trainer preparation. Track qualifications, overdue training and retraining needs, and work with managers to address gaps.
Other Assigned Compliance Programs
- Manage recurring DOT, elevator and pressure vessel requirements, including records, equipment registers, inspection schedules, certificates and provider contacts.
- Coordinate qualified providers and responsible departments; track deficiencies through closure. Technical certifications remain with qualified providers, and operational duties remain with responsible managers.
Safety Program Ownership: Lockout and tagout
- Coordinate equipment inventories, energy-control procedures, implementation and document control with Engineering, Maintenance and Operations.
- Arrange qualified technical review and field verification.
- Track approvals, revisions, training, periodic inspections and corrective actions.
Confined Space
- Maintain the space inventory and coordinate hazard evaluations, classifications, signage and entry procedures with qualified personnel and site leaders.
- Maintain permits and records; coordinate role-based training and verify required equipment and rescue arrangements.
- Identify gaps through records and field feedback, then track corrective actions. Refer technical decisions and specialized rescue needs to qualified personnel.
Contractor management
- Administer the contractor platform and process, including onboarding, required documents, orientation, training evidence and expiration tracking.
- Coordinate work scope and site hazards with project owners. Track missing requirements, approvals and site readiness; escalate unresolved gaps before work begins.
Implementation and Corrective Actions
- Turn approved requirements into rollout plans with owners, milestones, training and verification steps across sites and shifts.
- Follow up on overdue actions and verify completion through field checks and records. Escalate high-risk issues to EHS and Operations leadership.
- Maintain audit records and support internal and external reviews within the assigned scope.

What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Two or more years of manufacturing safety, EHS program implementation or comparable experience, with the ability to manage projects independently.
- Experience implementing at least one high-risk safety program, such as LOTO, confined space or contractor management, and the ability to develop capability in other assigned areas.
- Experience administering an EHS or learning management system, maintaining accurate records and creating useful reports. Ability to learn HSI and Paylocity Learning.
- Ability to turn technical requirements into clear procedures and training materials, coordinating review with subject-matter experts.
- Strong organization, follow-through and communication skills, with the ability to work across roles, locations and shifts.
- Relevant education, professional training or equivalent practical experience.
- Work takes place in office and manufacturing settings and includes observing tasks, walking production areas, facilitating training and working directly with site teams. The role must be able to perform its essential duties, with or without reasonable accommodation, and follow site PPE and safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HSI, Paylocity Learning or similar platforms; multi-site manufacturing; or contractor safety management systems.
- Experience developing hands-on training, supporting audits, revising procedures or improving safety reporting and workflows.
- Relevant safety credentials, such as ASP or CSP, or progress toward appropriate professional development.
