Two Brands. Real Ownership. Room to Create.
Full-Time | Washington, DC | In-Person | $55,000–$75,000 + Overtime Eligible
We're looking for a creative, independent marketer with strong visual design skills to help shape and execute marketing for two growing businesses.
Hylton-Rodic Law (HRL) is a boutique intellectual property law firm serving innovators in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and the life sciences.
EPIARX Diagnostics is a private pathology practice serving families, healthcare professionals, attorneys, and other partners seeking answers through specialized medical services.
The organizations share ownership, leadership, and an office in Washington, DC, but serve very different audiences with distinct brands and marketing goals.
One opportunity to help both brands grow.
This isn't a role where you'll simply receive a list of posts to make. You'll work closely with leadership and business development to understand our audiences, identify marketing opportunities, develop creative concepts, and turn ideas into finished work.
We want someone who can think independently, design thoughtfully, write clearly, and take ownership from concept through execution.
You don't need to know intellectual property law or pathology. You do need the curiosity and initiative to learn.
What You'll Do
- Own and maintain marketing calendars across both organizations, planning and executing social media, blogs, newsletters, email campaigns, and other recurring content.
- Create original digital and physical marketing materials, including graphics, brochures, presentations, conference materials, advertisements, mailers, branded collateral, and other content.
- Help develop and evolve our brands, including creative concepts, new service logos, visual identities, messaging, templates, and campaign ideas.
- Write and translate complex subjects into clear, engaging content tailored to distinct professional and consumer audiences.
- Maintain and improve our websites, including content, layout, imagery, landing pages, and digital marketing initiatives.
- Support CRM and email marketing, including campaign development, audience segmentation, and marketing workflows.
- Partner with business development and leadership to identify opportunities, propose ideas, and execute initiatives that support organizational growth.
- Manage projects independently, coordinating timelines, feedback, approvals, and publication without constant oversight.
You'll receive direction, context, and feedback—but we'll also expect you to bring ideas, exercise judgment, and move work forward.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an emerging professional with strong creative instincts, sound judgment, and the maturity to own their work.
You should bring:
- Strong visual design ability, including original creative concepts, typography, composition, layout, and brand consistency.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.
- Experience creating digital and/or physical marketing materials, including content, collateral, campaigns, or brand assets.
- Experience with website content management and familiarity with CRM, email marketing, or related digital marketing platforms.
- Demonstrated project ownership, from understanding an objective and developing an idea through execution and delivery.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and independent problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with creative software and modern marketing tools, including the ability to leverage AI thoughtfully to improve research, workflows, and production efficiency.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrated experience in marketing, graphic design, visual communication, advertising, or a related field.
Especially valuable: Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Squarespace, GoHighLevel or comparable CRM platforms, SEO, brand identity development, photography, and print production.
We welcome early-career applicants with strong portfolios, meaningful internships, freelance experience, or demonstrated ownership of creative projects.
You don't need to be an expert in everything. We care about your creative judgment, initiative, ability to learn, and the quality of your work.
Compensation & Benefits
$55,000–$75,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, in-person, non-exempt position eligible for overtime.
Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with employer matching; commuter benefits; paid time off; mental-health days; birthday leave; Sunshine Fridays; professional-development support; and an extended year-end holiday break.
How to Apply
Please submit your résumé and a tailored cover letter addressing the following:
1. Show us how you think creatively.
- Explore Hylton-Rodic Law and EPIARX Diagnostics. Identify one marketing or branding opportunity for each organization and tell us what you would do with it.
- Think beyond simply suggesting another social media post. What would you create, improve, or approach differently? Who would it reach, and why would it matter?
- We're interested in your ideas, creative instincts, and ability to connect marketing with business goals—not a perfect understanding of either industry.
2. Show us something you've created.
- Tell us about one creative or marketing project you're particularly proud of. What was the objective? What did you personally contribute? What decisions did you make, and what made the result successful?
Selected candidates may be invited to submit additional materials, including a portfolio or work samples, college transcript, short video response, or brief creative exercise.
We encourage applicants to be thoughtful, specific, and original. We want to see how you think—not just where you've worked.
