  • Investigate discrepancies, resolve complex accounting issues, and ensure appropriate documentation of transactions and adjustments.
  • Oversee project accounting and job costing, including labor allocation, project expenses, billing, revenue recognition, and project profitability analysis.
  • Partner with Project Managers and leadership to review project budgets, actual costs, work in progress, unbilled revenue, and financial performance.
  • Develop and maintain budgets and forecasts; analyze variances and communicate findings and recommended actions to leadership.
  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including vendor setup, account coding, payment processing, customer billing, and collections.
  • Manage complex progress and hourly billing, ensuring invoices meet contract terms and client submission requirements.
  • Monitor cash activity, receivables aging, and payment obligations to support cash flow planning.
  • Coordinate applicable preliminary notices, waivers, and lien documentation in accordance with company procedures and contract requirements.
  • Establish and improve internal controls, approval procedures, and accounting documentation to protect financial accuracy and company assets.
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits, tax preparation, and other financial reporting requests.
  • Mentor accounting staff, review their work, and provide training to improve accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of financial, employee, vendor, and client information.
  • Perform and review accounting activities within Sage Intacct, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, reconciliations, and project accounting.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts, dimensions, project records, customer and vendor records, and other financial master data to support accurate reporting.
  • Build, maintain, and validate financial reports and dashboards that provide visibility into company performance, project profitability, budget variances, and cash flow.
  • Prepare and validate data imports, reconcile imported information to source records, and resolve errors or inconsistencies.
  • Identify opportunities to automate recurring accounting tasks, reduce manual entry, and improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
  • Lead the accounting side of setting up and implementing Sage Intacct integrations with other business systems, including payroll, timekeeping, expense management, project management, billing, and banking software as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge and practical application of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting practices.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and analysis of large data sets.
  • Ability to translate accounting needs into clear system requirements, validate data mappings, and troubleshoot discrepancies between connected systems.
  • Experience mentoring accounting staff and reviewing work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly and collaborate effectively with leadership, Project Managers, accounting staff, IT, and external vendors.
