Sr. Site Lead- Sr. Project Manager
Toronto, CAN
Job Type
Full-time
Description

BNP Associates, Inc., a global leader in air transportation consulting and engineering, has an immediate need for a Senior Project Manager / Site Support Lead to serve as the primary client-facing leader for BNP's baggage handling systems (BHS) program at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

This is a dynamic, high-visibility role supporting a client that expects a consistently polished, expert presence and deep BHS subject-matter expertise. You will act as the primary liaison and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the client and contractors, lead the on-site support team, and  given the pace and demands of this account, remain willing to personally step into tactical, hands-on tasks alongside your team rather than delegate exclusively.

You will work closely with BNP's Designers, Project Engineers, Directors, and Executives, and will mentor less-experienced team members to build a durable, high-performing site support presence at YYZ.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison and BHS Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the client and contractors, maintaining a polished, expert presence at all times.
  • Lead and manage the on-site support team (including field/project engineering staff) for surveys, inspections, installations, functional assessments, and testing.
  • Personally perform or directly support tactical, hands-on tasks as needed to meet client expectations and project pace, this is not a purely oversight-level role.
  • Coordinate with Designers, Project Engineers, Directors, and Executives to assign staff and develop all required reports, specifications, drawing packages, and client submittals.
  • Maintain project budgets and schedules to ensure timely, cost-effective completion.
  • Review and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs); supervise punch list resolution and provide start-up assistance.
  • Review functional assessments, technical reports, specifications, and drawing packages prepared by Project Engineers, and provide feedback to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Conduct and analyze system simulations for performance evaluation.
  • Mentor and support Project Engineers and Designers, including managing workload and coverage across the site support team.
  • Proactively manage the client relationship and expectations given the account's high-touch, service-intensive nature.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent field experience).
  • 10+ years of project management experience, preferably within baggage handling systems (BHS), aviation, or large-scale airport infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building experience managing site support or field engineering teams.
  • Exceptional client rapport, communication, and executive presence, this account requires a consistently polished, expert-level representative.
  • Experience managing project logistics, timelines, and budgets.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to perform tactical, hands-on tasks personally when the situation requires it, not solely delegate to junior staff.
  • Based in, or able to relocate to, the Greater Toronto Area, with regular on-site presence at YYZ.
  • Ability to pass criminal background checks and obtain/maintain airport security credentials (RAIC).

Preferred

  • Civil or electrical engineering backgrounds, or other educational backgrounds with relevant knowledge/experience, will also be considered.
  • Previous experience in conceptual and spatial coordination work with large-scale hub airports.
  • PMP certification.

Education

  • Advanced Engineering degree or equivalent field experience.
  • PMP certification preferred but not required.

Working Conditions

  • On-site support at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ); client offices adjacent to the airport campus.
  • Some remote work is possible when direct site activities are not required, though frequent on-site presence is expected given client expectations.
  • Standard 40-hour work week with occasional additional time required to meet deadlines.

Right to Work

Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada by the start date. BNP Associates is not able to support a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or an employer-specific work permit for this role.
