Credit & Collections Specialist
Description

Summary/Objective

Tricon Wear Solutions is hiring a Credit & Collections Specialist to collect our accounts receivable and make the credit decisions behind it. Most of the week is direct customer contact — phone, email, and customer AP portals — getting past-due invoices paid without damaging relationships we have built over decades. This is an experienced individual contributor role: not an entry-level AR clerk, and not a management position.

Essential Functions

  • Work a defined AR portfolio daily; drive past-due balances and DSO down against monthly targets
  • Call and email customers on past-due invoices; research payment status in customer AP portals
  • Document customer contacts, promises to pay, and commitment dates in the ERP
  • Negotiate payment plans within approved authority; escalate broken commitments with a recommendation
  • Process credit applications — pull and interpret credit reports, check trade references, recommend limits and terms
  • Manage credit holds and order release with sales and customer service
  • Research short-pays, chargebacks, and unapplied credits back to source documents and resolve them with sales and operations
  • Recommend write-offs and maintain bad debt reserve support
  • Set up and maintain customer master records with inside sales, including sales tax exemption certificates
  • Apply customer payments daily and resolve remittance-matching exceptions
  • Back up AR invoicing and AP processing during month-end close, PTO, and peak periods
  • Contribute expected collections by account to the weekly and monthly cash forecast
Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Three or more years of business-to-business credit and collections experience
  • Comfortable making outbound collection calls and asking a customer directly for payment
  • Track record resolving deductions, short-pays, and billing disputes independently
  • Proficient in an ERP accounts receivable module; experienced navigating customer AP portals such as Coupa, SAP Ariba, or OpenInvoice
  • Intermediate Excel — pivot tables, lookups, and reconciling large aging files
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP experience (FI/AR or S/4HANA) — much of the research in this role happens in SAP
  • Construction, mining, industrial distribution, or manufacturing background
  • Customer master maintenance and multi-state sales tax exemption certificate experience
  • Associate degree in accounting or business; NACM coursework or CBA/CBF certification
  • How Performance Is Measured
  • DSO against target
  • Past due over 60 days as a percent of total AR
  • Cash collected versus monthly forecast
  • Aged unapplied cash and open credit balances cleared
  • Authority limits on credit, payment terms, and write-offs are defined by the Controller and reviewed monthly.
