About HPF: Houston Precision Fasteners produces high strength, fatigue rated, close tolerance fasteners using materials such as carbon steel, alloy steel, nickel alloy, titanium, Wasp Aloy, A-286, monal and multiphase. Our fasteners have supported mission aircraft such as Joint Strike Fighters, F/A 18 Super Hornet, and Falcon 9; just to name a few. We are dedicated to providing a superior product for our customers.
Job purpose: To create detailed accurate and technical drawings used in the production of aircraft, spacecraft, and related aerospace components. These drawings, often created with CAD software specifically SolidWorks, provide specific instructions for manufacturers, including materials, dimensions, and assembly procedures. The Manufacturing Designer- Drafting & CAD/CAM Engineering will work closely with engineers and the design team to ensure that drawings are accurate, compliant with the Aerospace industry standard, and reflect the latest design changes.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Using SolidWorks software, you will produce detailed drawings that guide the construction of aerospace components.
- Working with engineers to refine designs, incorporate feedback, and ensure drawings meet technical standards.
- Must ensure that drawings comply with aerospace regulations and industry standards.
- Revise drawings as needed to reflect design changes and project requirements.
- Preparing documentation for project proposals and technical reports.
- Must have a strong understanding of aerospace regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Must be able to accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- May offer insights and suggestions based on their drafting expertise during design reviews.
- Must ensure that all drawings are accurate and comply with specifications.
Professional Skills:
- HS diploma or equivalent or equivalent combination of experience/education
- 2 or more years of related experience required
- Intermediate knowledge of mathematics and applications
- Basic AS9100 knowledge
- Intermediate knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. This includes Keyence inspection equipment, optical comparators, digital micrometers and calipers, gage pins, ring gages, dial indicators, concentricity gage, thread segments
- Intermediate knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints (including geometric dimension and tolerancing features), drawings, and models as well as advanced knowledge of geometric dimension tolerancing (GD&T) features
- Experience with CAD software, specifically SolidWorks is required.
- Understanding manufacturing processes, materials, and standards within the aerospace industry can be a significant advantage.
- Strong technical skills in drafting, CAD software, and design fundamentals are essential.
- The ability to analyze designs, identify potential issues, and make informed decisions is vital.
- Effective communication skills are needed to collaborate with engineers and other professionals.
Physical Requirements and Working Condition:
- Work primarily involves using computers and specialized software, with limited physical exertion beyond sitting and using a keyboard and mouse.
- Subject to environmental conditions -protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
- Subject to hazards to include a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
- Subject to environmental conditions -protection from weather conditions but not necessarily
- Subject to hazards to include a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
