Description

VHFA is seeking an organized real estate professional to coordinate complex affordable housing transactions and help ensure closings are accurate, complete, and on schedule.

At the Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA), we are on a mission to ensure all Vermonters have access to affordable housing. We are seeking a transaction Closing Specialist who is an organized coordinator, thorough recordkeeper, and focused on a smooth execution of our real estate closings. In this role, you will be the operational anchor of our loan closing process, coordinating multifamily and single-family development transactions to ensure they are prepared to close on time with complete documentation, proper approvals, and clear post-closing handoffs. Working directly under the Agency Counsel and alongside our finance, development, co-funders, and external legal partners, you will maintain reliable systems that bring housing developments from commitment to closing.

The Impact You'll Make

  • Prepare Transactions for Closing: Ensure single-family and multifamily development transactions are ready to close on schedule by tracking documentation, approvals, funding commitments, dependencies, deadlines, and open items; identifying barriers early; and elevating issues for timely resolution.
  • Coordinate Stakeholders and Action Items: Keep internal teams, borrowers, developers, attorneys, lenders, syndicators, consultants, and other participants aligned by communicating transaction information promptly, clarifying responsibilities, and ensuring each outstanding decision or follow-up item has an owner and advances toward resolution.
  • Manage Closing Files: Maintain accurate, complete, current, and accessible transaction records throughout the closing lifecycle by receiving, reviewing, routing, and retaining required legal documents, third-party reports, title and survey materials, official approvals, and final executed closing packages in accordance with VHFA standards.
  • Maintain Closing Tools and Reporting: Use and refine closing checklists, templates, SharePoint sites, and loan management databases to support consistent execution and provide leadership with accurate status reports on transaction readiness and workload.
  • Ensure Seamless Handoffs: Package completed transaction records and transfer essential data to Finance, Asset Management, and Compliance teams so they can assume post-closing servicing and monitoring seamlessly.
