People. Recruitment. Organization. Real Ownership.
Full-Time | Washington, DC | In-Person | $60,000–$80,000
We're looking for a resourceful, highly organized HR and recruitment professional who enjoys finding great people, supporting employees, and improving the processes that help growing teams succeed.
Hylton-Rodic Law (HRL) is a boutique intellectual property law firm serving innovators in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and the life sciences.
EPIARX Diagnostics is a private pathology practice serving families, healthcare professionals, attorneys, and other partners through specialized medical services.
The organizations share leadership, an office, and a common HR framework, but have distinct teams and staffing needs.
One opportunity to help both organizations build exceptional teams.
Working directly with the Chief Operating Officer, you'll coordinate recruitment, proactively identify qualified candidates, support employees throughout their lifecycle, and manage essential HR and administrative processes.
This isn't simply a role for posting vacancies or processing paperwork. We want someone who can creatively identify talent, develop recruiting channels, exercise sound judgment, and independently move work forward.
You don't need experience in intellectual property law or pathology—just the curiosity, discretion, and initiative to learn.
What You'll Do
- Manage recruitment across both organizations, coordinating job postings, applications, candidate pipelines, interviews, hiring timelines, and follow-ups.
- Proactively source and screen candidates, researching specialized talent pools, conducting targeted outreach and initial interviews, and presenting recommendations to leadership.
- Develop sustainable talent pipelines, exploring relationships with universities, career services offices, professional associations, alumni networks, specialized recruiters, and other sourcing channels.
- Identify new recruiting opportunities, including potential partnerships, internships, or law clerk programs, and help execute initiatives approved by leadership.
- Own candidate communications and follow-through, maintaining accurate pipelines, providing timely updates, identifying stalled searches, and ensuring outstanding actions are completed.
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding, including documentation, HR systems, orientation, equipment requests, and employee transitions.
- Support employees with routine HR matters, including policies, benefits, timekeeping, and leave procedures, escalating sensitive issues appropriately.
- Maintain employee records and HR systems, ensuring documentation, acknowledgments, and administrative requirements remain accurate and organized.
- Coordinate employee development and engagement activities, including orientation milestones, performance reviews, training, and internal communications.
- Manage routine office administration, including supplies, vendors, workplace logistics, and facilities requests.
- Improve HR and administrative workflows, simplifying processes, strengthening documentation, and improving the employee and candidate experience.
You'll receive direction and feedback, but we'll expect you to anticipate needs, manage competing priorities, and follow through without constant supervision.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an emerging professional with strong recruiting instincts, excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and demonstrated ownership of people-focused processes.
You should bring:
- 2–4 years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, HR coordination, people operations, or a related field.
- Demonstrated recruiting and proactive sourcing experience, including candidate identification, targeted outreach, screening, and pipeline management.
- Initiative in identifying alternative recruiting channels, developing relationships, or improving candidate pipelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional interactions with candidates, employees, and leadership.
- Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple openings, deadlines, and administrative responsibilities.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and candidate information.
- Independent problem-solving skills, initiative, and consistent follow-through.
- Familiarity with HR systems, applicant tracking platforms, and accurate records management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and the thoughtful use of AI to improve research, sourcing, communication, and efficiency.
- A service-oriented mindset and a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Especially valuable: Experience recruiting for professional services, legal, healthcare, or specialized positions; familiarity with Paylocity; university or professional recruiting networks; and onboarding or HR administration.
We value demonstrated ownership, resourcefulness, and the ability to learn over experience with every responsibility listed.
Compensation & Benefits
$60,000–$80,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, in-person, exempt position supporting both HRL and EPIARX.
Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with employer matching; commuter benefits; paid time off; mental-health days; birthday leave; Sunshine Fridays; professional-development support; and an extended year-end holiday break.
How to Apply
Please submit your résumé and a brief cover letter (one page maximum) addressing the following:
- Recruitment or HR Ownership: Describe a recruitment or HR process you personally managed or improved. What did you own, and what was the outcome?
- Prioritization & Execution: Share an example of managing competing recruitment or HR priorities. How did you organize the work and ensure completion?
- Proactive Talent Sourcing: Describe a time you went beyond traditional job postings to identify or attract candidates. What approach did you take, and what were the results?
