General Manager, Charter Bus Company ($100k - $120k/Yr)
Job Type
Full-time
Description

Run the whole operation. Own the result.
Every morning, hundreds of people trust one thing: that the coach will be there, clean, safe and on time. A school group heading to a championship. A family reunion. A corporate team on a deadline. A once-in-a-lifetime tour. You will be the person who makes that promise true, every single day.
We’re looking for a General Manager who treats a depot like their own company. You’ll own sales, operations, people and profit, with real authority and a real seat at the table. This is not a desk job in the middle of a corporate org chart. It’s the top operational seat at your location.

What You’ll Own:

Sales & Revenue

  • Drive daily and monthly charter, tour and contract sales. You’ll hunt new accounts and grow the ones we have.
  • Build relationships with schools, universities, corporate clients, event planners, tour operators and religious and community groups.
  • Set pricing and quoting strategy that wins work and protects margin.
  • Review pipeline, bookings and conversion every week, and fix what isn’t working.

Daily Operations

  • Run dispatch, scheduling and fleet assignment, and keep every trip on time and on plan.
  • Solve problems in real time: breakdowns, weather, last-minute changes and VIP requests.
  • Make sure every trip is staffed, fueled, inspected and ready before the wheels roll.

Fleet & Maintenance

  • Work with maintenance on preventive schedules, repair turnaround and fleet readiness.
  • Control costs on fuel, parts, tires and downtime.
  • Plan fleet utilization and flag when it’s time to add or retire equipment.

People & Culture

  • Lead, coach and hold accountable drivers, dispatchers, sales staff and mechanics.
  • Recruit and retain CDL drivers, which is the lifeblood of the business. You’ll build a driver culture people want to join and stay in.
  • Run training, performance reviews and corrective action fairly and consistently.

Financial Performance

  • Own the location P&L: budgeting, forecasting, margin, cost control and reporting.
  • Report to leadership with clear numbers and clear plans.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of management experience in transportation, motorcoach, charter, tours, logistics, hospitality or another fast-moving service business
  • A track record of growing sales and running daily operations at the same time
  • Experience leading frontline teams (drivers, dispatch or field staff)
  • Strong financial instincts: you read a P&L and know which lever to pull
  • Calm under pressure, and a person others trust when things go wrong
  • Excellent communication with customers, staff and leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; proven results can substitute
  • Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, or the drive to master them quickly
  • Comfortable with after-hours availability during peak seasons and emergencies

Bonus points: CDL or motorcoach background, charter or tour sales experience, and experience with dispatch or fleet software.

What You Get

  • $100,000–$120,000 base, based on experience
  • Performance bonus tied to sales growth and profitability
  • Real autonomy and a clear path to grow with us
  • Health, dental and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • A leadership seat in a business that moves people, and is proud of it

Why This Role Is Different
Most GM jobs hand you a title and a to-do list. This one hands you the keys. You’ll see the impact of your decisions within days, whether that’s a new contract signed, a driver retained or a trip that went perfectly. If you want to run something, not just manage something, this is it.
